OK, let's say that you have a way of making low $xxx,xxx/year requiring a minimal amount of time, say less than 15 hours a week. (Somehow you have disciplined yourself to do this, lol.) Also, you did this a few years out of high school without any formal education while living at home with your parents and working a low paying crappy job. You have basically no deeply invested interests to build off of, I guess you could say.

What would you do with your life? What would be your motivations and goals (something most of us need help with anyways)?

I guess this is similar to a what if you won the lottery thread, which I'm sure there are plenty of online. I'm just looking for what motivates us to do something once our basic needs are easily taken care of.

Wow, I use the word you too much.

Invest money in banks/real estate

Put money in the bank on high interest rates

Do whatever the fuck I wanted to do for 20 years and not be limited by money

Then at middleage, buy a company of interest and work when I feel like it. Start a family and give the kids good opportunities in life.

Travel to the moon and space at 60, go on a LSD trip, say goodbye and jump into a black hole.

Damn. I better win the lottery this weekend, this sounds like a plan.

Buy some land and build the house my wife wants.

Set aside some for college/trust fund for any future kids.

Invest the rest.

Then do whatever I wanted to do:D

I'd buy all the stuff to make a cool bachelor pad in a condo. (games, modern furniture, drinks, etc.)

The best marijuana that money can buy and any and all paraphernalia associated with it.

Buy season tickets for the Bulls, and White Sox.

Go on vacation very frequently to all countries that interest me.

Buy the best food that man can make.

I would basically just live my life this way while learning and making a name for my self for my psychological research on marijuana.

Hmm I'm pretty sure that whatever I choose, travel will be central to the experience.

I'd also like to think that I'd be pretty generous with it and spread the wealth around to my friends and family.

Other than that, I think I'd let my P-ness do the talking and do whatever strikes my fancy.

I'd use it as an excuse to do whatever the fuck I wanted with my life. I wouldn't want to let it go anywhere; in fact, in a perfect world I'd keep it all in real, physical money, safe somewhere. That way I could go and indulge my interests without having to worry about it disappearing because some bankers were stupid.

Probably the same thing I always do? I have a hard time envisioning a life of true contentment... a struggle gives an imperative for improving and moving forward. Without the struggle, life would be utterly boring I think. Not that it isn't now.

Probably try have a more active night life, go traveling, work on projects, even more self-indulgence. That kind of stuff.

hookers, snooker table and a hotel room.

Special order food, rum marinade and tobacco enough to choke a horse.

Theme nights.
Weeks on end asleep.

Whimsical life.

Probably just wander at the end.
change clothes buying new ones and donating the last ones to charity.

Amen for a snooker table.. You should check this link out too http://www.nottagedesign.com/G1-pool-table.php

Run a business, engineering related. Continue living like I do, with less people bitching at me.

If I had several million, I would definitely construct an F1/rally team, or a racing team of lesser prestige if I must. Maybe become a movie stunt driver. Marry Scarlett Johansson because I think she would fall in love with me.

If I had many millions, and a lot of work experience I would build a jet capable of space travel. It would run on renewable energy.. No fucking green energy... Fucking magnets or some shit. Nuclear Fusion.. Hahahhaha. This thing would be mint. Shields, kinetic weapons, destructive weapons ;) This thing would be the most powerful weapon for the rest of time.. The technology will never be given to anyone. I will die inside of it and it will sit untouched for the rest of time wherever I die.

Then the intpforum could run the world with me as your champion :D I only fight for the good though.

I would invest as much as possible and save enough to buy a vineyard. Then I would quit and live off my investments and spend my time trying to improve my vineyard's wine.

Buying stupid shit gets old fast. I think buying your own freedom is a better use of money. And cheap wine.

I would use all of my money to teach myself about construction, plumbing, electricity, and also surviving in the wild on my own, etc. And then use all of these skills to build myself a house in the middle of nowhere and then move there and disappear from the world forever.

I think the original post was about how you would live if you had minimal income to meet minimal needs that took minimal time: What would you do with the rest of your time if you had basic needs met with 15 hours a week?

I would finish my education, move to a nicer area, continue to work and dump any excess money into my business.

In short, I would live the same, only I would have more in my bank account.

Holy Hell, I don't even have to read the rest of the comments. Easy.

1.) It would never, ever happen.
2.) Working for your money is a good thing.
3.) INTP's should fight delusion like it is cancer.

Just saying.

A parallel dimension of a thinker's creation
Well, first, I'd secure the money in various banks. Then I'd self-publish and market my novel.

Then I would start a school--a small one--and I'd hire teachers who knew what they were doing, people who actually used the skills they taught in a second job. I'd pay people well, and I'd invest in little businesses so that they started up and provided jobs. Of course, by this time, a lot of it will probably have been taxed away, but whatever.:slashnew:

I'm not sure, but it's rather chilly.
15 hours a week, you say?
Well, I'd use all of that extra time to become really good at playing the accordion, and then I would play said accordion on the streets for some extra money.
I'd squander all proceeds from this hypothetical accordion on books.

There's nothing really I overly desire - this might be a problem. I have great food, an intact family, a roomful of books, a somewhat stable shelter...I guess I have pretty minimal needs. I'm totally fine with my RDA of reading and writing.

Traveling strikes me as a pain in the arse. When you enter an airport you give up your identity; more so now that TSA and Homeland Security have stuck their snouts in there. I guess you could fire up your own plane or travel by boat or something weird but that sounds ridiculous.

Oh, one thing I could go for, perhaps once a week, is a good ol' fashioned fuck buddy. That and some intellectual peers...dare to dream. A fuck buddy as an intellectual peer? Would that work? Maybe in the next life.

i'd probably do the same thing im doing now just working a lot less. my hobbies are reading/learning, mma, photography, and race cars. I'd also start trying to monetize one some of these hobbies, like becoming an instructor. o, and i'd travel more.

Robot empire building.

As I see it money is a means to an end, not an end in of itself.
In of itself money is worthless.

1. increase my wealth's wealth using smart investment, attempts at invention, etc.

2. using this now stable very-large amount of money, I would selfishly make attempts to create a better living space for myself out of this currently-somewhat-fucked-up planet.

This would include, but not be limited to, health advances, space travel, building schools/needed housing/funding people's university educations, etc., in order to create more peers I can relate to and potentially enjoy existing with. Maybe also involving robots, energy research, lobbying the government with my insane amount of wealth to get it to do what I want...it would be fun.

I'd view most of what money I allotted to myself as "unlimited grant money for research!!!"

i would save the most of it in a low-interest bank, give a handful percentage to my family, buy an average house and study all day long. Most of the time the money will stay in the bank and i would just live on as i would have lived on, except it's much more comfortable knowing that you have financial back-up.

So basically if money weren't an issue, i would forget about having to work my ass off to find a good job that pays me well (i am currently facing a few financial problems...) and study a variety of subjects: psychology, philosophy, literature, mathematics (number theory), physics, economics etc. and work in those kinds of fields. It'll just be like internship, except for life :D

Read. (both physical and digital media) Read like there's no tomorrow.
So, that'd go on for a while.
Get high on a couple of ideas encountered in my reading. Work on those ideas.
Contribute knowledge to the field of AI and theoretical physics.
Have a cybernetic interface implanted into my brain.
Migrate to the moon.
Hopefully live for a long long time.

maybe spending it with something basic, a house of my own with my chosen furniture, clothes, a cool sports car, and travel around the world, o and put it in my life insurance.
I'm not interested in investment, something to make more money.
I make that whole money to accommodate my needs until I die, so I could pursuit what I love the most. Liberal arts, such as philosophy and literature....
I'm drooling just thinking of it!:p
