I wonder if saying "compleat" was intentional to annoy the people on that forum who like everything to be in perfect order and spelled correctly. It seems like too big a mistake to be unintentional.

this thread is nonsense. A thread directed to disliked people to show them how to treat you? Seems hypocritical and wrong.

I don't like it.

It's somewhat like a guide book for a dog.

Only an imbecile who can't get a long with an INTP and yet is interested in MBTI would read that carefully.It looks like both the articles were written by spiteful people frustrated with their social environment and the pressures of them.

A question is: how to go about sharing this sort of information with whomever it is you think needs it if you are not exactly inclined to announce your type in the first place? (I've realised I'm just not too keen on telling people, excepting here)

Wouldn't it be nice if one could just post a "User Guide" on the front door, if one could simply hand out or exchange bullet pointed pamphlets to those they are having difficulty communicating with?

I do find these sorts of things useful as they give me ideas of ways to explain or state certain aspects of behavior, so in that way they are amusing.

user guide on my front door reads: don't fuck with desperation

it's been misunderstood

people think it means i am giving the advice to avoid the state of desperation and that i must be stupid, because i give such advice without explaining how to do it. people are smart, but not smart about understanding how i mean anything. i shall give them the advice to understand me properly, lol

don't fuck with desperation ("please understand")

Do you mean it as in something not to be trifled with?

Do you really have that on your front door?

I actually have quite a few little signs hanging around my house that say seemingly random things but make perfect sense to me.

I had a note taped on my bedroom wall for something like six months that read "You left the onion in the closet" that one messed with people who saw it quite a bit. I had put it there originally because I had put an onion in my closet that I was using as reference for a drawing and I didn't want to end up forgetting where I put it and eventually having a rotten onion on my shelf. After that I left it, the note, there for some time because it reminded me by association not to forget other things and why write myself new notes if this one here is doing the job?

people who saw that note seemed to think I was being eccentric or absurdest or just plain weird or something. But it was serving and actual purpose! plus it did amuse me a bit to read.

it's supposed to mean: my room/life is a land of despair and i am it's product in the way anything in texas may embody the dangerous attitude of texas. i would like to believe, anyone has heard the saying/seen the bumper sticker: "don't mess with texas" but apparently not anyone will automatically scan the pattern, see the match and read these most similar sentences in analogous manner.

it was created in teenage years, when i was full of thc and dancing on balcony rails

now i moved the sticker (a long band) from the frontdoor to a cabinet, because i like it, and i never got to see it at the frontdoor. nobody visits me anyway.

I actually found it quite useful - I forwarded it on to my co-workers (our Exec is INTJ), not only did we get a good chuckle, but I think it actually helps people understand her just a bit more; definitely did for me.

Then I forwarded on the link I posted above to the INTP top ten to a few co-workers who took a few key points out of it. I ended up derailing the entire office for about an hour because everyone started looking for Guides for their types and reading up on everyone else's.

Anyway, I liked the direct clues and what NOT to dos: "DON'T repeat yourself", "DON'T engage in small talk"... stuff like that. Especially the list of Pet Peeves... VERY useful I would think.

If you have anything to add to an Idiot's Guide, please do. I think it is my next distraction to procrastinate at work...

Why hypocritical? Do you mean the person who wrote it is the one who should be treating others differently?

Um... Don't know how to break it to you, but I don't think desperation means what you think it means. (It comes from Desperate not Despair)

Looks like they're both pretty much the same, http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/desperate#Etymology

my dictionary doesn't know the difference, and german people (i am german, in germany) don't either. but thanks for the hint. shall look for a dictionary that clarifies the difference ...

desperation
Verzweiflung {f}
Hoffnungslosigkeit {f}
