Hello intpforum,

I am called Jin Jing (金晶), but I think nickname Damaged.Goods is much more appropriate. I had wanted not to make a whole thread for introduction, but I think perhaps that might be rude as people would naturally check introduction threads if they wanted to quickly know who a person was.

I am 14 years old and hail from Qindao region of Eastern coast of China. I spend all the time I can thinking or reading or writing alone, but my parents often want to show me to their government and business friend although I prefer not to do this activity. I am currently attending 北京大学 university. I think it is only place in China which is really a home to me.

Though I think best and most natural way is probably for people to know each other is through conversation and shared experience over time. I hope to be able to do that with all people on this forum. In terms of MBTI system of thought, I test as INTP or INFP depending on whether I have been reading new academic book or old traditional Chinese book beforehand. My interest in this system came first after reading translated books of Carl Jung, but this forum seems more than just the system on which it is based. It is very strange how I can feel more at home reading here than I do speaking to others in my physical homeland.

My other interest apart from daily life include Chinese poetry and Taoism and other system of thought, traditional crayon and animal form art and studying English and Korean languages.

Sorry for my English, I hope I can make it better over time on this forum.

Well, I could say "None..LOL"


But I'll give you an honest answer instead -even if it does mean more work on my part.

Many sadists and psychopaths have a clear sense of humor, that which they find humorous, which generally involves inflicting pain. Some of our most successful comedians fall into this category.

On the flip side the Good Guys (that's us, hopefully) have discovered that a sense of humor is the very best defense against the insanity of this world, we have maintained our sanity, but or poor shields of humor have become battered and warped because of heavy use. A use including inappropriate occasions, sometime laughing at pain at socially inopportune times...

I find what you mentioned very interesting also. I know it is not widely accepted in modern western psychology but I enjoy perceiving of these things with Carl Jung's ideas about synchronicity.

Maybe it's because I read student essays all year, but the writing style is so easy to spot now. I'm assuming this has been exposed somewhere else on the forum? I don't believe for a second that those are his only two accounts, like he says (or, well... Doubtful. I imagine Silvertongue (not a bad username for them all considered) has fallen victim to the appeal of indiscriminate revenge. When things go poorly for us it is often tempting to get revenge on the perpetrator of those "evils", but much of the time the perpetrator is indistinct (like the religious community) and untouchable (like the IRS). In order to gain the temporary satisfaction of revenge, it must be detached from its original target and given a more philosophical focus to find a subject. This is one of the causes of internal oppressed minority violence.

I don't know if Silvertongue has done this to any other communities, but there's likely something about this community that attracted their ire and made us a suitable candidate for vengeful purging. The most unfortunate part is that the reason we are suitable targets is in part because we are similar to them. Our similarities make us tangible to their attacks, and both the internet based nature of the forum and its size make us suitably indistinct to be faceless, but not so large to make any damage invisible.

I'm happy to hear Silvertongue has taken, at least, the step of comprehension. Its likely if something particularly negatives intervenes there could be a relapse (probably in a way that at first seems unrelated), but comprehension is always the first step.

Revenge can be a psychological addiction and often expresses it in ways we are more familiar with (e.g. cruelty within an intimate relationship or violent activism). Getting beyond it usually entails a great deal of introspection and difficult forgiveness. Truly understanding that life is not fair is not an easy transition from knowledge to personal axiom.

Multiple identities are against forum policy because they are easily exploited and useless to anyone participating honestly in the forum. In this case, to deliver outrageous lies and attempting to manipulate and divide the members of the forum. If you want to research, much of the debate about the bans were public and still accessible.

The reason for the initial banning was that they were creating multiple accounts. I don't expect that being uninclined to creating additional identities will get you in trouble of this sort anytime soon. Of course, if you are already doing that, then fret away.

The references to vengeful behavior were based on Silvertongue's posts from Cryptonia's link. I'm assuming an honest self disclosure at this point, but I hold little hope that it truly was.

While I don't think someone should be banned for being a compulsive liar, someone of unknown age pretending to be multiple people (including a 14 year boy and a 14 year old Chinese girl) has got to go. The Polly and DG accounts were the vengeful part as they appeared to be blatant manipulations with us the targets for the initial banning.

The alternative is that the vengence mentioned in their post is only another smoke screen for the real problem. Who's to say? In retrospect I don't quite agree with what I said in the previous post, but oh well.

That is good that there are some that can spot it. I thought that PollyWhatever had some pretty irrelevant posts and that avatar was a poor choice. For someone to be irrelevent in an INTP forum is a pretty tough thing to do. I mean I get sidetracked in a lot of my posts but at least I have the courage to post whatever is on my mind that is me being real.

I just think he's horribly lonely and bored. The vengefulness is likely due to a failure to deal with that loneliness in a healthy/productive way. (unless you consider pissing off strangers online productive) The badass, always-right, blahblah stuff is probably just a shield of vanity to hide that inner vulnerability. That's not strictly true - XIII flooded the forum last time to the extent that the spaces on the forum that one had to go to to avoid him were very limited.

That meant that any potential new members looking in to the forum would not have seen much of the culture we've generated and been able to decide whether to join or not. Closing the forum and reopening it has brought in some really interesting new members. I think it's reasonable to try to keep the forum accessible and troll-free.

The non-directive and often-irreverent culture here is something we all value - it also makes us uniquely vulnerable to being over-tolerant to trolls like XIII who simply want egotistic attention rather than interaction and being a member of a community. It's not acceptable that we tolerate one persona to the extent they have power to take over the forum and force its closure and it's perfectly reasonable to try to avoid allowing that to happen. Ours mods and admins are doing a great job to deal with this.

For what it's worth, he did say in another post over there that he had "once" declared war on practitioners of the MBTI, because it's making another organized, imperfect system to explain an incredibly complicated thing, dumbing down the beauty of it, etc. If you believe that, then those would be the people who he wants to attack.

cosigned. I think the way it's being dealt with now (just sorta letting them float around until he says something especially XIII-like, and then banning them) has been extremely affective. Especially if you weren't around during the wave of his accounts, you're better off forgetting about him and enjoying the place.

Yeah decaf. Could also be a reference to him losing his virginity at 14, which he's gone on about in various places. This is the second time he's impersonated a 14 year-old, I think, the other being Alice.

It raises a bit of a philosophical question. Everyone seemed to think that damaged goods was so fantastic, giving them praise on their posts and what not. What do people think now? Is it disillusioning to find out the truth? Does anyone feel they would be happy if they could have continued living the lie? What would people think if they found out that someone else on this board that they really admire was nothing more then another personality by our forums insidious troll?

Also, can we trust that nobody else here is another account from the same person? Can we trust that the accounts they claimed as theirs are actually their account (perhaps they just wanted to see us ban an innocent person)?
