interesting riddle

my first guess will probably be wrong but, is it, 'the bats represent birth, consciousness emerging from darkness, the bird the innocence of childhood, the elephant the politics of young adulthood, the fear of diseases during middle age, then plane crash then death, the cat being after life?:borg:

good luck getting past all the brainwashed SJ Christian types that think humans are god's perfect creation. or that tampering with genes is god's work. If god wanted us to be more evolved I would think we would be more evolved by now. Its that line of thinking that caused the fall of man as I see it. We are responsible for what we do so if we wanna evolve all we need is the right technology and the right mindstate. You can't be a kid forever, can't rely 100% on god forever, sometimes you have to do something for yourself if you want it done.

Yup, cos Dr. Mengele is so much surer than God.

Human evolution hasn't stopped at all. It just takes longer than a few generations. Even at that, human races continue to separate and diversify as rapidly as ever.

de-evolution also takes quite a few generations, just hope we aren't going in the wrong direction.

Perhaps there's a divergence occurring?

Biotechnology is leading to ever more complex genetic manipulation and medical advances, how long will it be until biotechnology is used to actively/intelligently evolve the human race?

Cybernetics is also developing at an ever increasing pace, how long will it be until humans are succeeded by their artificial creations, or use the same technology to recreate themselves?

Then there's the course of natural evolution which seems to be adapting into some sort of caste system, the differences between public and private education are constantly growing, how long will it be until one's role in life will be determined by the social class they were born into... is it already happening?

I too liked the documentary Idiocracy.

However whichever direction nature adapts us, it is for our own survival. There are many societies where a complete lack of intelligence carries complete evolutionary advantage: Mezoamerica, f'instance; and most modern militaries.

It always has, and always will. All other things being equal, the fellow who starts off with a million gold coins will pull ahead of the chap who starts with ten. And receive more praise.

Even in the most eqalitarian societies, only the tiniest percentage of the lower classes join the really upper classes through either the gaining of wealth or intellectual prowess; and the nomenklatura can always fiercely protect their own as a natural human instinct.

yeah these christain types always bend the rules to their liking. In their "Bible" its says "Do not kill". But they think it is okay to kill in war and support the death penalty. But when you say "We should protect the Earth" they say it is not up to them, but to God. 'If God wants to save the world he will save it.' Funny how the tables turn when you say "What about the people in the world who aren't Christian". Then they suddenly say it is their responsibility to save the world, and God is unable to save the world without human help.

For the sake of argument your making mass generalizations in order to set up a straw man argument... but I agree.

It's much easier to burn a straw man than to address the actual issue, in much the same way as it's easier to attack a person's past decisions rather than a person's actual point.

That's rather more in the New Testament: in the earlier part nearly everyone is either killing or getting killed or thinking of reasons to kill people.

Apart from The Song of Soloman, of course.

Yet even Soloman's father had to kill his treacherous son Absalom. Whom, personally, I would root for since his older brother had raped their sister, which rightly meant that Absalom had to kill him. And when the aged David passed on, his last injunctions to Soloman were that the latter should wipe out David's remaining foes. And presumably anyone who had ever looked at David funny.

Not to mention that Soloman immediately killed his surviving elder brother; then killed failing generals and made war on lots of bad people. Still he didn't kill everyone: all non-Israelites were made into slaves... And he was one of the nicest Ancient Hebrews.

Makes the 20th century look relatively tame...

This may be redundant, but I agree with the point he made,
I just didn't agree with the method used to present that point.

And I agree with all of your statement too. (and it's presentation)
