I'm moderately short-sighted probably from a mix of genetics and too much reading and close-work. I wear contact lenses now, I changed to them because of comfort and convenience and because my sight is better than them, I still prefer how I look when I'm wearing glasses, though I have noticed that people I don't know treat me differently without them.

20-10. Also, I've never once looked at a person wearing glasses and thought to myself that they looked intelligent because of them.

It supposed to have subtle unconscious effect Android.

I used to have 20-15, but my far vision has been getting steadily worse since I turned 16. :( I generally only wear my prescription glasses when I need to be able to see detail from far away; mainly when I'm driving or in class.

I also have unusually large pupils which makes me very sensitive to light; I pretty much always wear sunglasses during the day or I get headaches. People have suspected me of being high because of my pupils on several occasions.

Perfect eyesight =D

Except from my convergence insufficiency, but that doesn't influence my ability to see. So =D

My sister, brother, mother and father, they all wear glasses.... I once wanted to wear them 'to look smart'. But, now, I'm glad I can see without them fine. Left eye is a bit minus and right is a plus. But there isn't much difference to wear glasses.

One of my friends has a strong difference between eyes, one is a strong plus, another strong minus. He cannot therefore see distance of objects without glasses, tough he is a sniper behind 3pt line on basketball.

I suggest I could put the coordinate here but then
I got both myopia and astigmatism, each on 1 eye. Sorry but I got a different system of numbering eyesight which I don't know to convert. I got it I think due to reading in the dark.
Funny things is that my eyesight keep getting worse very fast until I bought a computer and started using it 16+h per day. It suddenly stop getting worse at around that exact time and is getting a bit better although slowly. Not sure if there is a causation link.

I was born with Nystagmus. It's a neurological condition where my eyes shake back and forth. With contacts, my best corrected vision in optimal conditions (a doctor's office) is 20-40 but in the real world it is significantly worse than that.*

There is something wrong with my vision, but I can see perfectly... I forget the name of it, but I was told that I would need glasses when I turned about 25, but I'm 26 and still good.

I can only see one plane of vision at a time, and must make a concious effort to focus on it. I focus instantly, but apparently, at some point, I will become slow and need glasses. Its fun though, because when I'm inside my own head, the whole world is a blur...

Oh, and I am borderline colorblind. Like when red and green, purple and yellow, or blue and orange are side by side they jump back and forth, flickering between the foreground and background.. I worked in a fabric store for 2-3 years and every christmas cutting red and green plaid... it gives me the kind of headache a normal person would get from staring into a flickering light.

But if you don't wear glasses doesn't it go worse. At least that's my situation I gotta wear em even if it makes me look smart or not.

Myopia. -4.5 on right eye, -5.5 on left eye. I am sure I am going to turn blind eventually.

I can relate to most of that, I don't know if my pupils are large or not but I am very light sensitive, especially around midday the sunlight reflects of almost any surface (concrete pavement even) with such intensity that I have to squint and/or cover my eyes just to see where I'm going, and of course excessive squinting causes headaches (but why?). As for being high, well I've never been accused of being high for having large pupils, however throughout highschool I was known as the MJ smoker for my bleary eyes, drowsiness and generally laid-back/agreeable/contemplative nature.

In reality I suffered from almost year-round hay-fever, was as nocturnally inclined as I am now (feel asleep in class once, and would have gotten away with it to, if hadn't I started snoring :o) and the laid-back/agreeable/contemplative nature is just who I am, offline at least.

My vision is HD Pixel perfect & fast enough to spot the strobe of AC lighting, playing +1000 hours of online FPS will do that to you, and my long range vision is adequate I guess, without getting tested I don't know if it's perfect or not, but it's functionally sufficient.

i too am rather light sensative. i have had very large pupils .. i think it had to do with the time period i took strattera (a drug of hell. i took it for 5 years-ish :/). people often ask me if i am high.. when i am not.

I am light sensitive too guess it's because i never have the lights on and never let sunshine shine through my windows. Hate the sun. And awake moslty at night so my eyes hate the sun too.

And i see alive people, believe me it's worse.

My eyes are probably the worst of anyone here >.> lol, -7.5 and -8.

I relate to the same thing as Adaire, my pupils seem to be unnaturally dilated, so I avoid light often. Like Snik, people have asked if I'm on drugs, when I have never used -_-

Contacts and glasses here. I have a turned eye (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amblyopia), and it doesn't seem that bad when you look at it scientifically but believe me, it is so horrible to live with. I don't mind wearing my glasses, but they often rub on my nose. I've also been wearing contacts for a few years so if I rocked up at school one day I don't think I'd be able to handle all the attention.

If you mean with the turned eye, no. I've had it since I was about 2 so I've mastered control of the muscle, meaning I can make it look completely normal or turn it. Unfortunately when I leave it be, it looks fine by the vision is horrible, very blurry, and after about 15 seconds of turning the eye, and improving the vision I have to stop because it strains my eye.

Wearing contacts can be a drag, I think this south Australian climate makes it a bit worse, on hot days at around 1-4pm I can hear myself blink because it makes weird clicking noises. And staying at someone's house and forgetting your contacts/glasses is the most aggravating thing imaginable.

Myopia and Astigmatism.

right now i can take my glasses of and look at the screen 2 feet away and get 2 images when i close my eyes. on my desktop my right eye only sees a line where my short cuts are. my left eye can see the individual short cuts but they only look like dots. iam pretty sure i willl be legally blind in 10-15 years. my eyes are getting worse fast. on the bright side iam not color blind.:D

Being blind would be so bad. If I were to keep one sense it would be sight.

when it comes to hearing or sight for me it depends.
if i had to lose one right now.. it would be sight.
but if i could choose which one to not have from birth.. it would be hearing.
why?
because if i lost my hearing, the lack of my ability to hear my music would drive me INSANE.
but if i was born without hearing.. i wouldnt know what im missing.. and i wouldnt have all these songs stuck in my head.. so i could do without it..

Are you able to have any kind of surgery? I had surgery for strabismus when I was young (I know it's different than amblyopia, but would muscle surgery have the same effect?)

It atleast got rid of that problem for me. I still don't have correctable vision, but atleast my eyes don't shake and wander. Do you have any other eyesight conditions?

I'm not sure. I don't think laser surgery would fix it, but I think there is a cure (or at least I hope there is). I had a surgery or two when I was very young, had to wear an eye patch for a few months if I remember correctly. Wikipedia is hinting me that it can be cured by using the the bad eye alot, and strengthening the muscle, I'm not sure how accurate that is or how long it would take. Depending on the effort and time would probably change my decision to commit to it.

If a surgical cure does come about, I'll pay everything I own to get it, though!

Ah, I had an eye patch too... fond memories.
Anyway, not laser surgery but surgery on the eye muscle itself.

So would I.

I have 20/20 eyesight but I like to wear glasses with clear lenses because I think it makes me look more approachable and less intimating. I also get a little boost of confidence hiding behind glasses.

To my very surprise, I still have great vision. For someone that's spent 10 years glued to a computer, I can still pass with near perfect vision.

However, I will say that my eyes tire quicker than they used to.

My eyesight is terrible, w/o my glasses i can only see things clearly less than a foot away (no joke), i have myopia, exophoria, (maybe astigmatism, i vaugly remember the optometrist mentioning it) ocular motor dysfuntion, and accommodative disorder. However i think after 6 months of eye therapy the last two have been corrected.
also, people often ask me "why don't u get contacts?", and i don't have a satisfactory answer i just like my glasses.

Btw, hello world.

Welcome, Frood.

I'm pretty nearsighted, I wear glasses when I'm looking at things farther than a metre away. It sucks because I can't really recognize faces farther than that without glasses unless lighting is good. But it's not really terrible. I like my glasses, but I think I'd prefer contacts or laser surgery.

Strabismus, primarily. My eyes don't focus together. Each one works fine on its own, but together I get either blurry or double vision, and I have partial control over which (basically if I focus on something it blurs, if I look off to the side it goes double).

I used to have a lazy left eye and farsightedness.

I've got 20/20 vision, as affirmed by my second visit to the eye doctor in my life a couple of months ago. :p

Considering the amount of time my eyes spend glued to a computer screen I'm delighted and pretty surprised.

Do you see any of them here in the thread?

Now how do I turn this into a Michael Jackson joke...

Annie are you okay? Are you okay, are you okay Annie?

On topic: my eyesight is terrible. I live in a world surrounded by blurs and vague shapes (minus corrections of course).

I'm sure if I got adequate sleep, my eyesight would be perfect. I've been tested a few times and got 20/20. At my present situation (spending ~12 hours online per day/night and sleeping ~3 hours), I'm very sensitive to light and the area around where I'm focusing my sight gets kind of...flickery.

I've had my glasses since 4th grade. I have myopia and astigmatism in both eyes. My left eye is somewhat clearer than my right eye. With my glasses the area I see clearly is an ellipse with one foci on the left side of the left eye and another foci in the middle of my right eye.

I've been wearing glasses since I was 7, and I think I have 20/30 vision, though I could be wrong. I tend to remember my eyesight abilities in terms of my prescription numbers: -4.00. Seriously short sighted. And I also have astigmatism.

i have amblyopia in my left eye -- technically "lazy eye" (but it doesn't drift off or anything) where my left eye is literally a lazy piece of shit and makes my right eye do all the work. basically it's only useful for peripheral vision.

i wear glasses (tried contact *singular* - didn't work) but the left lens is super thick and the right lens has barely any prescription at all, and they make me look retarded, so generally i use them to see the hilarious reactions from people when they try them on.

I've worn glasses since I was in second grade. Just had them checked this morning - left eye: -14.5 right eye: -8.0 and astigmatism.

Glasses are so much a part of me that I don't think about them much at all - loosing them isn't an option.

Oh, I just remembered, I did too! In first grade I faked the optical test we were required to take at school because I wanted to see what having glasses was like.
Then after I realized it was pretty lame, I "miraculously" got 20/20 vision. Silly adults.
