Haha, I just found this news article a couple hours ago and posted it on my facebook profile... Nice.

I'm too good to get hit by a car. ;)

I think science will get me to live quite a bit longer, but I wonder if it's just the generation or two after me that will get to immortality... If we can sustain our ridiculously teetering economic system enough to keep up such R&D, that is. We could be near the peak any day now...

When i was younger, sometimes i would think about the future of the group of friends i spent most of my time with. I always had this nagging thought that i would be the first of us to go. Never had any specific reason, i knew i obviously couldn't predict the future, it was just the way i felt.

Then in late november of 2009, one of my closest friends from the original group had been killed. Hit by a car that was speeding while he was walking down the side of the road. Ever since then i have had no interest in making guesses about how long i will live. (The person who killed him was an off duty officer... interesting display of responsibility)

On a side note, damn you Athideus, your tree is cooler than mine :phear:

I figured that all horrible accidents aside I'd live for a long time. The women in my family generally make it to about 95-100, notably one grandmother lived for 102 years, before dying. What's amazing is that they make it to that age with their minds still intact.

I'm healthy. I don't smoke. I don't have any history of heart disease. One grandmother died of a fast growing brain tumor but other than that there isn't a history of (known*) cancer in my family. My odds are pretty good.

*You can never be sure with cancer. If you live long enough you'll probably get it.

I'm guessing I'll live to about 30-35 given how things are going.

I always figured I would die pretty young. According to past guesses I should only have a couple of years left.

My grandmother was 94 when she died, my grandfather died when he was 88, I believe. My other grandpa and grandma have been chain-smokers for decades, and are both ex-alcoholics. They're both around 75 now, I think my grandpa might be at risk for dementia, as he seems to be getting a little confused, but I'm not sure, it could just be all the alcohol and tobacco finally showing up. The brother of my grandpa died because of alzheimers, it's a really sad story.

So yeah, as long as I don't get alzheimers(I really hope I don't, but there's a big chance for everyone) or cancer(which is also scaringly common), I could probably make it to 90, given that I also don't smoke or get hit by a car and stuff...

I'm not comfortable with the idea of dying at all really, as I'm just a teenager.
