There are a few big companies that own all other big companies. Ofcourse owned by a few extremely rich people and a lot of shareholders. What it comes down to is that if you work for a company, you are a slave of shareholders. And if you wish to buy from these companies, you will need money and thus work = being a slave of shareholders. So basicaly you are financing your own prison for shareholders who ofcourse only think in terms of profit.

How could you beat it? Are there any other options aside from growing your own food or being a shareholder yourself?

And why am I the only one struggling with this? Am I stupid?

PS: I did smoke weed.

Contribute to society in a way the companies have not already monopolized.

I am wondering why you wish to "beat" these companies. Anyhow, if you sell a product that is better and/or cheaper than the competitors, consumers will purchase the product from you.

Not all publicly traded companies are owned by rich people...The problem you have is that you only hear about the "big" companies and never the small ones.

Is there something wrong with being a share holder?
And if you are working for a living you are doing it all wrong. Getting paid by a company for a skill you enjoy doing is the way to go.

In a perfect world yeah.

It's interesting that, as an unknown company with a new competitive product, you have to face both market entry resistance and consumer backlash. For example, the former is shown with prohibitive legislation or over-saturation, and the latter with community disagreement(especially in advertising).

Thank you. ^_^

Following on, a smart entrepreneur will seek to find a need/want/desire that has not already been satisfied and invest funds there rather than entering markets where there are vast barriers of entry. There are perfect examples of this in modern times like Kickstarter, patreon, etc. There was a desire in the market for consumers to directly fund start-ups.

I don't really know what can be done about prohibitive legislation. Uber is a great idea but is currently facing this legislative hurdle all around the world. Apparently governments and taxi companies don't like competition.

Behind you, kicking you in the ass
You "beat" them by carving out your own niche. Open your own business and get a BIG internet presence. If you know how to do the latter yourself, bonus. If not, hire a professional.

Mine is located in one of the most out of the way places the east coast of the U.S. has left. I see a traffic light about every 2 or 3 months when I venture out of my county. The location is idyllic and quiet and most of my fellow county residents don't even know where we are (although they've heard of us by now). The internet has brought people to us from around the world. Every continent save Antartica (although we did have someone who spent a year there). I meet very interesting people and have few worries.

Is this what you mean by "beat" them?
