Career Counseling is a process that will help you to know and understand yourself and the world of work in order to make career, educational, and life decisions. Career development is more than just deciding on a major and what job you want to get when you graduate.

Have you talked to one of these people?

undergrad was comp-sci, hated the corporate world... got burnt out on game dev... love computers...

When it comes to getting a job: it does not matter what your degree is in, as long as you have one. Or spend that time instead getting hands-on experience that could be transferable.
On average people change profession 7-12 times during a lifetime. So study whatever you want. have fun!

edit: also, it comes down to who you know not what you know. university is good for forming connections.

Just chill out, man. You don't need to know what you're going to study later on. You're a freshman in high school - so you're about 14 or 15? IMO, that's not the right time to be deciding what you want to do with your life - career-wise, academically or otherwise.

Others will likely disagree, which is fine. I'll share with you my experience. I decided for sure what I wanted to do with my life when I was your age. I didn't even consider other options. There was only one thing I wanted to be. I did what I needed to do to get there and now I'm here. I worked to earn 3 university degrees to be what I am, and only now am I questioning what I really want to do with my life...

My advice to you is not to make a decision about what you are to do with your life at the age of 14-15. It's too early and you have no real life experience. No, what I think you should be focusing on is learning about as many different things as you possibly can. Go and seek every experience that you can and accept every opportunity that comes your way.

You can work the rest out later.

The classes and stuff don't matter a lot. Just learn about things you're interested in. It's a common misconception that coursework is the best way to impart knowledge, but honestly just figuring something out on your own can be a lot more effective in terms of time and the level of understanding you take away from it.

If you like engineering then build and tinker with stuff in your free time. If you like entrepreneurship than brainstorm a feasible business you could start on the side. These have the potential to be much more impressive on college apps than just having good grades.
