Well, hello there!

Hmm, how to begin...

For starters, my name is Alex. I'm fifteen, in the tenth grade, in the IB Program. I live in the US, sunny Florida. I don't enjoy the wonderful beach within the local parameters, but rather the forest behind my home.

My interests include thinking, percieving, time wasting, video games, thinking about practicing foreign languages, and formulating theories about my fellow human beings. Oh, and people watching, when given the chance.

Reading this, I find I'm not so interesting, really, but I'm poor with introductions, anways, so it doesn't matter too much. What I'm truly concerned with is finding out about you folk. How is it going in these forums, here? Have you made any newfound connections with people you'd never believe you would discover?
How have you integrated in this forum?

I've noticed that a lot of people on the introduction sticky share a common problem of alienation, be it from their eccentricites or intellectual abilities. I, myself, never ran into that problem before.
-------Whether or not that says I'm of lesser intelligence or maybe just don't think about it too much, I'm not sure. (I actually feel somewhat outclassed as far as conveying my messages, though, seeing so many of your tactful responses.) =D

Aside from that, I think this place will provide an interesting experience.

Questions-- as well as answers to my questions-- are wholly welcomed and encouraged. 8D

Hi there Totes!

You think you're outclassed when it comes to conveying your message? I see no evidence of that.

This forum has provided some sporadic relief from my personal insanities, some humbling examples of human complexity, and comedic entertainment. Though I would call entertainment anathema to thought. But I'm an old grump. Bah. Humbug.

Give me the company of trees any day.

So why the puffer fish?

So, it seems like this is a pretty well-rounded community, even if some aspects are not as preffered for some people, as expected.

As for the bowfish? Its a bit of a strange reason, really, but I chose it because I really liked the way the white of its body was so crisp and, well, white. Otherwise, it's just another picture to me.

Empty beaches sound quite nice, as far as being able to enjoy yourself without the intrusion of others, be it unintentional or not. Too bad I've never come across one, either, even if I prefer the rustling of leaves. There is always the option of going at night, at least around here, but then it gets creepy. I always think someone is going to injur or kill me, as paranoid as that sounds, hehe. I'm not too fond of the dark, either.

I rarely go to the beach because my parents hate it and the few times I have gone, its always so crowded. I like the idea of an empty beach.

whiterae, your birthday is the day after mine.

FYI, just found out. Thought I'd let you know.

Welcome, Totes. What's your name mean?

I've spent over a month in FL, when I calculate all the time I've spent there over the years. It's very humid, frustratingly.

Indoor skydiving rocked, though.

Yes, it's common for INTP's to feel relatively alone, and secluded. I integrate well with society in general (even, perhaps, unusually well for an INTP), but I still have had period where I feel intensely alone.

I think most people here integrate pretty well, though, with each other; there's a mutual understanding of how things are perceived, you know? And we find each other worthy of our thoughts. Whereas most people aren't worth the effort of explanation, these people are curious & insightful, as well as having a response that is unique and helpful.

So all's good. Or, rather, "It's all good."

My name comes from the word ''totatlly'', shortened to ''totes''. You know, that valley girl-like spin to a word. I think it's pretty funny, and I enjoy using it-- not seriously, though, of course.

As far as the inegration goes-- meeting people who possess certain ideologies you have in common--I can see how that works out. The similarities between our general perspectives would provide a different sort of bond between us.

Hi... what's 'IB' stand for? Idiomatic Bears? Introducing Borscht?

Nice to know you have social skills. Wish I did.

I believe it's International Baccalaureate. It's a program with advanced classes and a more challenging curriculum. I almost went into the IB program until I realized what the workload was like.

I've heard of that, although the context in which I heard it suggested that it was at least a degree-level qualification. I can certainly empathise with your fear of workload. I also fear workload, but somehow it continues to stalk my path. Maybe one day I will achieve true slack. I certainly hope so.

Hi Totes in sunny Florida. Alienation? 'Fraid so. Humans give me the willies.

It's understandable, at least nowadays for sure. It seems that a sexual predator or serial killer is always out to decimate the human population. Maybe it's just a matter of the widespread availability of broadcasting these to the public, and it has always been this way?

On the subject of IB: The workload isn't as overbearing as some may say it is. Really, the secret is to just keep on top of yourself-- and... 'sharing', of course. Often one would find a hallway of IB students switching papers around, a flurry of questions shooting from the back to the front of the area.

I used to live in Gaspé; it's a great place to find quiet beaches. The place offers both a wealth of beauty and tranquility.

Perhaps I ought to introduce myself. I am Canadian and I love foreign languages. I speak French (well, "Québecois" ;) ), English, German and Spanish, and I tried Mandarin. More accurately, I am trying Mandarin, but have lost my motivation for the writing system thereof. I would prefer a more phonetic approach, so speaking the language, despite the bizarre concept of four tones, is quite enjoyable. When I'm not talking to myself in a foreign language, however, I may very well be practising Karate, writing, writing, or maybe even writing. Thinking is an integral part of all of these activities, and so, I have not included it seperately, although I quite enjoy thinking for the sake of it. It makes me laugh, especially when put to such use as the creation of a new language with its own special grammar, vocabulary and nuances. I love modularity in particular.

I'm halfway in and out of IB (Honors). I despise that whole notion of the IB, most of the people who succeed, do it with some odd conglomeration of work compiled by 50 students or so... I actually DO my work... which is why I haven't been on in a while...

Yeah. The reason why I didn't go into IB was the fact that I couldn't stand to be in honors science or math. I'd do all right, but I'd hate myself for it because I don't love the subjects. I could take any honors class other than math or science. I'm fine with just a couple honors and a couple AP classes instead.

if only I could spell internationall.

Maybe that makes it simpler?

(Obviously misspelling the other five syllable word, as if it were just as hard as Baccalaureate?)

I feel so deprived that my favourite words only have 4 syllables. I'll upgrade them before Christmas.

Weltanschauung is my favourite English word (borrowed from German)

Selbstverständlich is my favourite word and it's... you guessed it! It's a German word.

Wow . . . I'm a newbie. I discovered I'm an INTP during a team meeting at work 10 years ago. It clarified my life. Out of 30 people taking the M&B test, I was the only INTP. I was also the most productive according to my manager.

I married an EFSJ at age 30 and didn't know it! She keeps me sane!

It looks like we all write as we think. Totes started his intro with ‘Hmmm’ – one of my favorite words. I have a PC directory full of letters to the editor. The dir name is ‘c:\hmmm’. They rarely get sent, but are full of ramblings pointing out the obvious that others either don’t see or chose to ignore.

Folks - Are we all Republicans? Do you find that reacting to emotions is not a way to deal with life? Is your work ethic solid? Do you tolerate people who do not put effort into their jobs when you get equal pay?

Totes – I went into the Navy in 1980 at age 18 to see the world for 4 years. I saw it . . . and absorbed everything. I missed my siblings, but loved ever minute of it.

I’m now a software engineer and work mostly with foreigners. I can relate to them easier than I can relate to most Americans. There are a lot of stupid/pacified people in this country.

Good luck, and trust your intuition. It’s part of your make-up. Be quiet and observe. And when you want to smack some idiot at school . . . remember, it’s not politically correct. Everybody must think they’re a winner.

No, I'm not republican. Friggin' sanctimonious, sentimental dumbasses...

Or american, so I can see what insane trouble you're getting into. That being said, I'd say we're on the verge of a war on Mugabe.

How in the world did you come to the conclusion that we're Republicans? Sure, there's a couple around here somewhere, but certainly not as a whole. Most Republicans are all-american and closed minded to the point of being ignorant of what's right under their nose. If anything, I'm a moderate/libertarian/centrist/constitutionalist/semi-conservative. Let's just say I don't belong to any party.

Ew. I'm a socialist libertarian (i dont like using the term anarchist, too many bad connotations) at least ideally. the only thing I have in common with the republican party is that i support the right to bear arms, and the death penalty. And I'm very sure 90% of republicans choose the stoic logical approach. And just because the Democrats seem to be able to screw up an easy win doesn't mean they don't have a work ethic. I don't like either party, maybe the green party, but my vote goes to Ralph Nader, even if theres no chance hell ever win.
