Hello everyone,

Following a traumatic spell I am investigating my type and am both horrified and relieved to discover that I am INTP.

Horrified because it implies that my failings are innate.

Relieved that there are some others like me out there, who may be able to help.

My good points:
I'm 'clevver'
I make people laugh
I had a job that I wasn't ashamed of
I have some fantastic friends
I'm pretty social ept when I'm on form

My bad points:
I am stuck inside my own head
I fear that I will live my whole life without ever finding a fruitful or fulfilling outlet for my passion, thoughts, and (questionable) talent
I get uncontrollably depressed

Because of these, just before my 30th birthday I quit my job and broke up with an incredible girl, who may well have been the only one for me.

So here I am - single, unemployed, and clueless - but open to suggestion, inspiration, and perhaps even some light hearted banter, should the mood take me.

I'm looking forward to some enlightening conversation (followed by action - yeah? This time I'm serious).

Sam

Realize that some of us are just like you, just as lost, just as clueless. "Enlightening conversation' is a little too general for a conversational topic, please be more specific.

Get a job then get a woman. Ok, we're done here.

Welcome! We are all holding back the urge to give you hard-edged advice, but I think you may like it here anyway. We are all like you. What are your interests?

Hello,

Apologies if that seemed like an overly negative start.

I have lots of interests - I would say the main ones were:
Politics (which I studied), comedy, photography, documentary making, and writing.

I was working as a digital project manager at a big organisation in London.
It was fantastic for a couple of years while because it was interesting, and I could do it. It didn't tap into anything I was passionate about though.

I'm looking for ways to stop just thinking about the things I'm into and start making connections (the hardest part for me) and doing them.

I see that a lot of INTPs are scientists and engineers. Are there any INTPs here who have more of a tendency towards humanities?

Thanks,

Sam

Yes, most INTPs I see are way into mathematics, physics and 'science' but personally I hate mathematics to an unbelieveable level, I didn't like the classes that included physics but I think it's a very interesting topic when there's no mathematics to be solved.
But I wouldn't actually know if there is a tendecy towards subjects more 'human' I myself am mainly interested in cooking, history and culture. So my goals so to speak. Would be chef, archaelogist or anthropologist.
And anthropology is obviously very 'human'
I'd also like to develop games but mainly because of the work enviroment! (almost no rules, as far as I know) since I don't want to be a programmer or animator. I don't want to spend my work hours typing in numbers on a computer only to get home and spend my free time on a computer. Concept art though... But that would require that I can actually draw, lol.
