Hello, I am wuthering, or Heidi. I really can't think of anything interesting to say. Uh, I have two cats and they are very cute and I enjoy reading.

Welcome, Heidi. What was the last good book you read? Wuthering Heights?

I actually did not get wuthering from Wuthering Heights, though everyone seems to assume that. If you look closely at The Secret Garden, you will find it in there. It was my favorite book when I was much younger.
Although I just finished re-reading Infinite Jest, which is very, very good.

And thank you :D

Oh no you didn't, did you? I might ignore this transgression once, and only because it's your welcome thread, but if you dp ever again I'll *insert imaginative way of both killing and humiliating a person simultaneously*.

oh and welcome:smiley_emoticons_mr

And the two hundred plus pages of endnotes for Infinite Jest? Sometimes reading DFW is tedious because he will spend three pages describing a chair or the hidden intricacies of wall sockets. Whatever, price of genius.

Eh, the footnotes may be a hundred pages long, but I think they really add a lot to the book. They sort of disrupt the continuity of the book though- read a footnote that is a ten page report by one of the students of ETA and you will have a hard time continuing reading smoothly. I read the footnotes through only once, though. And I have always favored excessive detail, so it doesn't really bother me.
