Is there any way to permanently
alter the language that the forum
appears to you in?

I know I can click the flags at the
bottom of the page but that is not
something I can save, it just
translates (and not perfectly, either)
and I have to click it every time I
click on anything.

No. The Translation Hack is all that is available: forum software may come multi-lingually* so that posters can write in their own language and/or see the board in whatever language; but it does not include translation from one language to another once written.

* Theoretically, and for all I know it may be implemented on some international forums, the underlying language of the blank forum may be able to be switched by choosing another theme --- yet that would not affect what is typed since the software only sees the letters written ( or rather the code representing those characters ), and has no more knowledge of meaning than any other machine.

OK, I'm curious. Why is Bird looking to change the language that the forum appears to her in?

I have no idea if it's possible, but I just want to know your reasoning for wanting this.

Maybe to learn or practice by immersion?

I keep my homepage set to Yahoo en Espanol, despite not speaking Spanish. I also tried Hindi for a little while... that didn't work out so well. (damn non-romanized alphabets)

For the convenience, actually (;

And now when I "change my
language" it stays for the whole
time I'm logged in.

...did someone change something?

If so: thank you very berry much (:

for the Лулз
Is it really pathetic that I had to go and translate this just so that I could find out what you were referring to, and wasn't the least bit disappointed at the translation, because I was able to learn something?
