You gotta fight...for your right...to party.

That being said. My first instinctive reaction would be to fly. If I was forced than fight.

Really all depends on what I'm reacting to.

Actually, I'd say flight and then fight....so both really. I always have a deep desire to confront conflict, but I also like to have time to think to myself and figure out what's going on.

For example, if someone tried to fight me (either physically or verbally), my initial response would be to step aside for a moment and then decide how to proceed logically. Some people see that as cowardly.

Its been so long since I've been tested this way I don't know anymore. Most likely it would be flight over fight.

The opportunity to choose is quite rare, ideally I would choose flight but more often than not I would have to fight my way out of the situation before I can do that.

Is fighting defensively a form of flight?
Is taking flight to gain a tactical advantage a form of fighting?

I was once chased by a random (possibly drunk) guy in the woods. I had to jump a fence to escape the mugging. :(

I sense a problem, think on it for a while, as it escalates, and go back and confront the issue.

If an issue is immediate, I will fight.

Interesting responses. I think some of you didn't fully understand what I was asking for though. I meant:
In ANY unpleasant situation (ie not just a physical/verbal fight) - are your responses (1. and 2.) to face it and deal with it, or to turn and run/avoid it?

Cognisant:
That should clear up the defense/tactical advantage questions.

Weli:
Fighter.

RedMage:

Then my response is Diplomacy > Flight > fight

Fight or flight?
Stand. Haha.
I have too much pride to run away, even if I'm scared. But I will wait for the fight to come to me.

When it comes to non physical confrontations, a difficulty in getting something I want, I try to find a way around the difficulty rather than trying to fight through it or just giving up my pursuit. I will fight if I have no other choice, except if it doesn't seem worth it, in which case I'll turn away and sulk. I avoid confrontation because it rarely seems like direct assault on a problem is the only way to solve it. But I am not afraid to fight for my beliefs.

Interesting responses.

Perhaps I shouldn't have phrased it such. I wasn't really asking about aggression levels. I was curious whether the typical INTP response to challenging situations involves not facing things. (I have received that impression and its opposite in various threads.) By 'fight' I simply meant not running.

I'm sure you can guess what my tendency is. Like jaded I think I need to run a bit more often - or at least retreat into silence

I'm more likely to avoid any sort of conflict, but if pushed I can get surprisingly aggressive.
