More famous INTPs

Ben Whishaw aka Q in Skyfall

Rooney Mara

Nicholas Hoult

Aubrey Plaza (PLEASE WATCH FROM 8:50 FOR CLASSIC INTP INEPTNESS!)

I don't know is anyone is identifying with these people. That's a few INTPs I've found now. Seems like there are quite a lot of famous INTP actors huh? I think at least two of them have an Oscar (Rooney Mara and Marion Cotillard) so it's something we can do. Maybe I deserve a pat on the back for Hugh Grant.

Did anyone see About A Boy? That's got both Nicholas Hoult and Hugh Grant in it and one of the reasons that film works so well is that you can see how similar Hugh and Nicholas are.

The main things I look for in identifying INTP's is poor posture, looking down at the floor a lot and an inability to express themselves very clearly - finding it hard to frame a sentence correctly when they start speaking. Also losing the thread of what they are saying if trying to say something profound about the film, getting muddled, and losing the attention of the interviewer. Looking a bit tense etc. Flickering Ne eyes.

That Ben Whishaw interview is him being slightly in character as Q. Looks like he might have been filming it that day There are other interviews when he's not being so "bright" in his delivery. His portrayal of Q was kind of Super INTP.

Another thing I've noticed, is that some of the female INTPs go for shocking film roles: Rooney Mara has a really disturbing nude rape scene in "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" and other sex scenes that I think would be really awkward to do, ESPECIALLY for an INTP.
Aubrey Plaza, INTP, is about to star in a comedy called "The To-Do List" which is about a sexually inexperienced teenager who is determined to overcome her handicap. I still can't, at 29, watch stuff like that with my Mum in the room so it seems weird that an INTP would put herself through that much embarassment in front of a Global audience. But I spose sexually inexperienced is INTP and would be a good fit for the role.
Amanda Seyfried, INTP, is going to play Linda Lovelace in the new biopic of Linda Lovelace, you know, the famous pornstar. Anyone else think this is a worst nighmare situation?
I'd also like to mention Konnie Huq, INTP, ex-Blue Peter presenter who is in my last post who - on a regular basis - goes on TV and makes a fool of herself as a political commentator. This is because her weak INTP articulation skills.
I think a lot of our problems are to do with nerves, but still why do we do it? Inferior Fe?

The uppermost and lowest I was convinced were INTPs the first time I saw them, good you mentioned them... Mara I first thought of as INFP but INTP does make more sense, yes

edit: as to the rest of the post, yes there are a lot of INTP actors in hollywood, becoming globally acknowledged for a movie portrayal is an inferior Fe wet dream in a way. As to how you go about typing them, that's stuff I guess I pick up on as well but my conscious focus is usually function dynamics, just how i do it...

Watching aubrey plaza was hilarious. I'm not certain if she's INTP, but she's certainly appears to be :p

Aside from David Cronenberg, Philip K. Dick and William Burroughs might be other INTP writer/intellectual types.

Yeah, I know the latter two are dead. Stop judging me. :o

Just from reading them, Howard Zinn and/or Noam Chomsky could be INTP. I'm less sure about those two. The wikipedia guy, Jimmy Wales, is INTP though. :D

And Bill Gates! Maybe Christopher Nolan as well. :elephant:

Only guys I can give any input on... Christoper Nolans way of speaking indicates lead perceiving, I am pretty sure he is INTJ. It is pretty clear during his acceptance speech for the batman actor who died (forget his name, I typed him as INTP though), the flow of his speech that he is a lead Ni. It effortlessly fills in all he needs to say.

I gave up on typing Bill Gates, I got it down to either INTP or ENTJ though.

@Ink

Although I feel rather sure about the first three (and Wales/Gates), I'm inclined to agree with you about Nolan. Going into it, Nolan was the only person I hadn't extensively seen firsthand (Nolan's plots seemed very XNTP though). I just watched The Culture Show interview and, indeed, Nolan is a quick talker, especially compared to an INTP, and he doesn't mince words or deviate from his Ni script. He also has the Te/Fi INTJ thing about not compromising, or even considering alternatives, in realtime. Compare that to an ENTP, like Bill Maher, who basically only improvises. :D

Some INTP musicians.

Philip Glass.

the documentary 'Glass a Portrait of Philip in 12 Parts" . This gives a great in depth showcase on his general personality, his opinions, his interactions with other people and his interests.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGaG5VJqgZg

Maynard James Keenan of Tool . Hard to find one video that captures his intp-ness but from reading a wide variety articles about him and interviews with him and his own writings I'm pretty sure he's INTP.

kobe is definitely an INTP

He's not a J cause he's not bossy, he's not comfortable playing that part. He's introverted as hell, even though he knows how to talk, even to the media. He's intuitive and not a sensor, neither a feeler.
Ive followed the guy since 1998 or so, definitely an INTP.

Evidence?

  • Charlie Sheen. I don't see much INTP there, just a lot of drug abuse and fuzzy headed thinking. . Need more information
  • Marilyn Manson Yeah he's analytical, I was impressed with his analysis of other peoples reaction to him. I give is a possible.
  • Kobe Bryant INTPs are the geeks of the geeks (of the dorks). Unlikely one would make it to that level in a team sport of all things. Unlikely
  • James Hetfield Main interests are outdoor sports and activities. Not seeing a lot of INTP here, need more evidence
  • Heath Ledger Nothing compellingly INTP Need more evidence
  • Jonathan Ross I'm out of time More evidence

INTP's don't like sports?

I loved sports until I was 14, and then most pyschologists would tell you that I got depressed.
I stopped going to school and dropped out of everything at around that age too and got realy into music.

The point is INTP's don't like sports? Are you guys sure?

Architect you replied to my question by saying my social issue isn't an INTP thing.
I might suggest here that INTP's of my age group (i'm 19) might identify more readily as 'weirdo's'.
Don't know why and correct me if I'm wrong guys but that's sortoff an impression I get.

Anyways I still enjoying watching, imagining and analyzing soccer, and talking tactics and theories with whoever will- most sports fans wont and get uncomfortable when I start trying to propose thoeries as to why two teams interacted in the way they did.

Stephen Gerrard- a proffessional soccer player- I wondered if he was an INTP. He is quite a perceptive player. He is really quiet, and focused, unemotional and almost apologetic to refs and other players in his demeanor.

He reads the play beautifully from the midfield, which makes me think he may have built himself an architectural understanding of the game. If you know what I mean.

'I'm not sure INTP's don't like sports' is an accurate statement.

Anyways on bad internet tests I consistently test as INTP, and once or twice INTJ.
Do you guys think I'm an INTP? Specifically Architect. I'm receptive. Anyways...

@Latetotheparty.

I was thinking Maynard may be an INTP as well.

He writes the coolest most cerebral lyrics...

'Well I know the pieces fit" is a line from a song he wrote about writting songs.

He also wrote the song 'Lateralus' with the syllables landing on the Fibonacci sequence.
'black
then
white are
all I see
In my infancy
red and yellow then came to be
reaching out to me
lets me
see'

he goes further along it on the next paragraph somehow.

Then starts using imagery from sacred alchemy (don't know anything about either of these things)
He visualized the Fibonacci sequence as a spiral descending. Anyways, maybe a little of topic and not evidence
but still you guys might find his lyrics to be the coolest things to analyze and think about.
