I once read in a book about eyes that body and character traits have a connection to wether you are short-sighted or far-sighted or have an astigmatism. I myself am pretty short-sighted and have a slight astigmatism.

The same here. My eyes are not very good, but I hate it to wear glasses.

I'm near sighted with astigmatism. What's annoying is that my first optometrist never seemed to realize that I developed astigmatism, so contacts were really uncomfortable. But I'd rather have contacts than glasses, which frame the darkness under my eyes. This is a bit exaggerated, but picture L from Death Note in glasses. Not so good.

I also am near-sighted with astigmatism.. I had 20/20 vision when I was little, but its deteriorated as of late..it sucks. I don't get why so many human-beings have poor vision.. My entp roommate and I were talking about it on a car ride a couple days ago actually, and the best theory I could come up with was that when we left the trees and moved out into the plains and whatnot, our eyes weren't designed to focus on farsighted objects..ehn, probably not the case, but still fun to think about.

Perfect vision. Despite one eye being a good deal lazier than the other...

Perfect vision. I had to wear glasses when I was a kid for nearsightedness (I think) though.
Everyone in my immediate family has to wear glasses.

I've worn glasses for 25 years and update the script every 5 years or so. I'm due to do it again as I'm not just near sighted anymore. Astigmatism too. Never even able to consider contacts.

Same here, although the last time I checked was about ten years ago. Mom always told me I'd ruin my eyes from reading in the dark, but it hasn't happened yet. ;) My mom wears glasses/contacts, though, so I might wind up needing them down the line.

They have contacts for astigmatism, even if it's severe. You have to get them custom, but the prices are reasonable.

Astigmatism is where your eyes focus in different ways, correct?

If so, I have it. I have a perfect right eye, and a nearsighted left eye. I have glasses, but I don't wear them that often.

I am very near-sighted.

And have astigmatism. My left eye is far more near-sighted than my left.

I have also noted that out of one eye (my right) everything seems more warm-toned...sort of honey-tinted. Out of my left eye (which is the dominant eye), everything is tinted green-blue and has a dreary tone. When I have both open, colors seem, to me, normal.

I have both glasses and contacts. I was told by my doctor to wear contacts because my eyes were rapidly degrading and the contacts help them hold their shape. I was getting to the point that I could only see vauge colors with no shape or definition, and my doctor was worried I would become blind.

Astigmatism is actually when the corneal curvature is "wrong" and everything looks slightly fatter or thinner.

I have a lazy eye but 20/20 vision. My INTP father became far sighted around 50 but before that had perfect vision. My INTP mother has always had horrible vision. My ESTJ stepmother also has always had horrible vision.

When you become far-sighted in your 50s it's because the lens hardens and cannot adjust properly.

Yeah, same for me. I'm also near-sighted and have a bit of astigmatism. I think I've got 20/400 vision or something like that. Although I started wearing glasses at 16, not any earlier.

*sigh* I really hate wearing glasses...I want contacts.

I have better than 20/20 vision right now. Its nice not worrying about glasses or contacts.:p Genetics dictate that in the next 4-5 years I will most likely lose that trait. Both of my parents needed glasses in their 20s.

Although I do not wear glasses, I would argue that I fit neatly into the common definition of a geek/nerd.;)

No, you do NOT. You're a gerd. The definition of geek, dork and nerd are as followed:

Geek - Person that has interests revolving around unconventional subjects that are non-intellectual and wears glasses because of eye difficulties.
Nerd - Person that is mainly interested in intellectual topics and wears glasses for eye problems.
Dork - Someone that fails at life and has to wear glasses for being such a failure.

Well, by your definitions I fall under none of those categories. My understanding of the definitions was the same as yours sans the glasses refrence tacked on at the end.

I do not like your kind, Gerd. You're driving the nerds and geeks to extinction with your typical behaviour of taking the only types of women that would ever be available to them.

I have perfect vision. But I also have something called convergence insufficiency. Which gives me headaches now and then.
