I'll introduce myself. Why not.

There really is one thing about me that dominates my life; art.
Although pursuing truth is good and a fan-friggin-tastic past time of mine, I would suffer much more greatly had I been restricted from the production of art. Although I do paintings and etchings as well, what truly seems to reflect my intentions the most is photography. It's a colder and more precise medium, just the way I like it.

I got into the only college I applied for, the only one I wanted to attend.
Classes start in the fall. I will not be eating for a while if I don't get that scholarship.
Shameless self promotion
------
The reason I'm here is to chat a little with some like-minded people, I suppose.
A good bit of curiosity is involved as well.

So hello, everyone.

Thanks,
I like that. That's an interesting label, and if you deem me so, I am flattered.
Since they're your favorites and all. :)

welcome.

More visual types, perfect. There are several of us that love photography here. You seem to have been doing it for quite some time.

If by "Quite some time" you mean no more than three years of doing anything much with a camera, then sure. Any skill I have is due to experience. Like that high-end wedding photography bullshit I did for seven months. Nasty stuff. The richer they are, the more they insist on having the ceremony put everyone to sleep.

Some nice B + Ws you have posted. As already mentioned several of us are into visual media. You may find something of interest in the Visual Arts sub forum here...

I'll check the forum out. I'll probably set up a little internet haven for myself there.
Thank you.

Hmm... the presence of talent always makes me half sorrowful for the human race.

I think it shows us all how short we fall from beauty... and yet... and yet - someone can reach in and drag the numinous out of the mortal flesh. Hmmm... but then... just knowing that some human carries the standard... and if it weren't for rest of us dying in the mud there would be no injustice for whom to bear such. No reason for courage. And no one to see the beauty in the blind.

It's like you have the key to unlock us from our cages.

Eh. I'm too harsh on the rest of us. Not all of us are as mediocre as I.

Welcome. I think I was trying to compliment you.

Oh gods, I am not truly that talented. Thank you anyhow.
I am in denial, I assume everyone has a creative capacity. We can call create beautiful things. I will not think about this, because if it is how you say, then my moderately unspectacular view of society would just...catapult downward. It's where my only hope lies. So I'll say that you are too harsh. It's probably true.

I think the combination of words and images is exceptional.

But yeah... I can be an overly harsh critic of mankind, right alongside being unjustifiably optimistic for it.

Just don't stop following your vocation. :)

A lot of people caused me a lot of discomfort, when I was younger, assuming everyone had creative capacity and trying to get me to use it, haha.

Welcome Waugh.

I really like the juxtapositions on your blog - each photo is great but the way you've put them together is fascinating - and then the text too. Lovely work - I can imagine many of them blown up really huge - they'd look fantastic.

Thank you everyone. I'm 17, and have been doing photography on a more consistent basis since I was 15, or around then, back at that time I did not take it seriously or strive to be better. I only drastically improved in the last year or so.

They do look better larger, and I have an art show coming up in two weeks.
I plan to dominate my side of the room, with obscenely large prints. :D

A lot of people caused me a lot of discomfort, when I was younger, assuming everyone had creative capacity and trying to get me to use it, haha.

I never even tried to talk someone into 'using it'. I just assume it's there, and if it isn't solid creative capacity maybe at least there is some viable bits and pieces. It's really up to the owner to claim that. Hey, maybe some people just don't have it. I'll go back to completely denying such a thing.

Welcome. Your aesthetic is beautiful, to me.

I'd just like to enquire-- because it has come to me in visions so many times that its impression is always present on the surface of my mind-- about what this symbol means to you:

In combination with the dual Tetrahderons in your site banner, it almost sent me epileptic.

I indulge in surrounding myself with anything having to do with triangles.
To me, it can provide not only perfect aesthetic, but a divine composition, by principle. It's stable and it's soothing. The triangle is infinite, a range of view, and it often represents myself (in my other, more physically accessible art). Your post made me laugh, I'm glad you understand and/or share my aesthetic. I'm growing to love this forum, but now I end up wishing the people around me were more similar to the rest of you. Oh, the proposed madness.

welcome.
nice art.
triangles creep me out.
you understand what some would say?
that they represent man being the smallest number.
that bacteria are the largest.
that entropy is a constant battle.
man to bacteria.

Thank you.

I can see how they can be creepy, yes. Underlying my obsession and attraction, is an aversion to them, and there is something present in this tension, which pleases me most. I do not care that much about man, I respect bacteria too much. It dominates anything man has ever left outside the fridge for too long. How can I ever compete with that? Let them claim as many points of our triangles as they like. Or let some say, that they already have.

Whenever I've encountered them-- yes, I've encountered hyper-intelligent triangles with eyes-- they've always been amorphous and ambivalent. I'm not overplaying this: if I ever take hallucinogenic drugs, my sensory perception becomes a lattice-work of sentient triangles. They appear everywhere regardless, but that's probably because I stopped taking the psychedelics because I trip enough without them. Either way, the triangles are there.

There like some trans-temporal acausal being intruding into conscious awareness, seeping from the beyond into life. Unlimited by time and space, simultaneously penetrating our causal world without concern for causal laws. Making itself known to those whose perception is subtle and permeable enough to... be permeated.
