Perhaps this has already been said, but I'm trying to figure out if I have been mistyped as INTP. I noticed that according to this site: Personality Pathways that INTP's and ENTP's have the same 4 major functions, just in a slightly different order.

INTP: Ti, Ne, Si, Fe
ENTP: Ne, Ti, Fe, Si

I relate to all the descriptions I have read of both, so this has become rather irritating, and the descriptions generally seem rather similar, the only difference seems to be with people. Which I personally feel neutral on, I like spending time with people, but also like to just keep to myself(neither feel particularly draining unless I feel like they are an idiot, or my ideas aren't going anywhere).

So perhaps a clearer definition would help(please), I was pretty confident about being INTP, but I tend to be more optimistic about people, which nobody here seems to be.

I feel stupid posting this, everytime anyone posts anything on mistyping everyone just tells them they are an idiot.

MBTI is a system of classification, not absolute definitions.

It's like an experiment done by tinkering with things in the outer world, not the inner world. It's like he is stirring things up to see what happens, and from this stirring find some possibilities. This is one of the many reasons why I think ENTP's are crazy. What I see as social risk taking, they sees as stiring up possibilities.

This actually summed it up pretty well for me, thanks though.

and I realize it's a generalization, I was just wondering what significance the order of the four functions meant, because they are so similar, yet create really different people.

I feel like this describes me pretty well. My mind has been shattered.

There is really only one difference, other than how talkative they tend to be:

An ENTP cares more about surfing possibilities than analyzing and understanding their implication. (Ne over Ti) Essentially they live in world of surfing possibilities, and only go inside to check them with their logical model.

An INTP cares more about the internal process of modeling their gather possibilities and pattern than gathering new ones. (Ti over Ne) INTP begin in their logical model and go out to gather more possibilities that they can bring back inside to model.

You should have said this last time when I was having a big problem deciding whether i was ENTP or INTP -_- . I already found out on my own but thanks for giving me something to do when I waste my time on the holidays

I think ENTPs are cool - like Peter Gabriel - he is awesome. Anyway just a little input there. I am an INTP - yet at one point in time I took a test that seemed to indicate that I had equal indications for extroversion and introversion. In light of this I am conducting an experiment this year on myself in an attempt to become more like an ENTP!
