Several test results have typed me as intj, but the individual breakdowns show my j over p preference to be in the low teens. I've even typed once as an intp. So naturally I have some doubts about which type I'm really.

Some videos I have watched point to some discerning characteristics as including, among other things, the aspect of intj having more structure and organization whereas intp are more go with the flow. And true to form I seem to straddle this point as well. At work I make lists, my cubicle is orderly, and even the applications on my desktop are all organized into their correct positions. At home things are much more relaxed, and you can say a whole lot messier.

At home I have a 5ft tall bureau with seven drawers. The bottom five are all various junk drawers. And are organized as follows, lower/bottom to higher/top.

1. Work documents (benefit packets, contract, evaluations, etc)
2. Text books and notebooks
3. Miscellaneous
4. Stuff I should probably throw out but I'm too lazy to go through
5. Electronics and wires
6. Socks
7. Underwear

On top of this bureau is a TV, ps3, a 4-channel indoor helicopter, and currently active used reading material. I also have another two-drawer desk across the room where I have my laptop and the drawers are filled with ps3 boxes, pc software, and pc equipment.

So the question I have is. Am I an intp who has developed a j for work? I guess I should ask a similar question on the intj forum.

At least you have it all in drawers. I tend to keep a bunch of similar stuff in drawers, but it ends up covering any horizontal surfaces in my room and then some. It can be useful someday, right? :)

Anyway, judging isn't all about being organized and ambitious. Anyone of any type can learn that. I'm in a somewhat similar situation. I often test as INTJ, largely due to upbringing (ESTJ mom). I find it easier to compare individual INTP and INTJ functions (Ti, Ne, Si, Fe and Ni, Te, Fi, Se). It becomes especially apparent when you ask yourself what your major weak point is. Is it Fe or Se related?

My entire room is a junk drawer. I'm not the most organized person around.

My initial thought based on the content and organization of the OP, as well as the fact that you list your type with a lowercase J in your about Me: No.

My entire desk is a junk drawer, none of which are categorically organized.

The world is my junk drawer.

Seriously though, I probably should clean up and organize myself. I had 5 pens on Thursday and three notepads. I currently have no idea as to where any of those are. I also have a CD case laying around somewhere.

I have two shoeboxes, one is for my government documents, bank statements etc. The other shoebox contains all my notes, doodles, saved classworks, poems and more, mostly from highschool.

I have a few cardboard boxes filled with computer cables, electronics and other technological stuff that I refer to frequently, and add to occasionally. If you're in technological despair, I most likely have what you need.

Yes, it has everything I will ever need and then some. Xbox games, pens, tax paperwork, and books abound there.

I guess my room could be referred to as a collection of junk drawers....
Papers, papers, useless books, my closet is off limits for any healthy human being.

I have clusters of junk in various areas. I can usually remember which cluster of junk a certain item can be found, otherwise it would take a mission to find it. There are things I've been meaning to throw out for quite some time.. I'll get to it eventually.

Here's my test if you're on the fence:

Total INTJ = never willing to eat dessert first
Mostly INTJ = rarely willing to eat dessert first
Middle = sometimes willing to eat dessert first
Mostly INTP = often willing to eat dessert first
Total INTP = always willing to eat dessert first

Asking a bunch of people about their junk drawers and comparing them to your own junk drawer situation is a rather interesting way to make a decision on your type.

I have canisters of things I've picked up on my various visits to nature.
And by canisters I mean 2 Coffee cans.
I used to have a whole canister filled with petrified wood
I'm almost positive I gave it away (lol)
I have a box where I keep old drawings and sketchbooks
My father refuses to let me burn it

Other than that, I really don't have... junk.

I'm such a spartan when it comes to stuff- I've moved too often to ever justify accumulating useless odds and ends. I do own a very large collection of books. It got paired down considerably once my father bought us nooks. I managed to save a few books from the purge, thankfully

Junk drawer? I might would, if I had any drawers other than the drawers in which my clothes are (supposed to be) placed.

I do, however, have five wooden boxes each of which holds, separately:

1. Various computer hardware
2. Various guitar hardware
3. Various items (what might would be considered 'junk')
4. A somewhat less vast collection of fireworks than was present a week ago
5. Nothing... yet

If I had something I would definitively term a "junk drawer," it would be the floor.

For comparison, my idea of "cleaning" usually involves sticking everything which might would be categorized similarly in some container. Then, when I need something from that category, I dump the whole container, get what I need, and then place everything else back into the container. At least... that is the intention. Usually everything else doesn't make it back in the container.

I do have both a backpack and a laundry hamper which have both proven themselves extremely effective the in storage, movement, and hiding of far more than just books and clothes.

Dessert isn't even a thing for me. My meal habits can be described as eating a meal soon after waking up, then eating whatever I feel like/can afford for the rest of the day. I actually think dessert is an inherently bad idea as you are eating sugar without giving yourself time to burn it off, which can result in you getting fat. This is not necessarily such a bad thing, but it seems counter productive in the realisation of a normative ideal, which implies that it should not be a normative habit.

I keep my junk in easily accessible piles, just in case I ever need any of it.

Do you have a junk drawer?

No, that would drive me nuts. I have a folder of papers waiting to be filed and another pile waiting to be shredded. Other than that I need my environment to be kept simple. I make regular trips to SVdP to drop off donations. Clutter stresses me, it makes me lose things and my functioning takes a huge dive. Too much external stuff draws my time and energy away from my vastly more interesting internal world, and I hate that. Clean and simple all the way for me - just this side of spartan.

Yes, in plural.

I've been trying to locate my camera charger in one of them for a few weeks by now..

:) Thanks for the offer.

I am not in the Great Despair yet, although technology does that to me periodically.. I place my hope into a few cramped 'drawers' situated next to the ceiling.

I swing back and forth between extreme "junkdrawishness" (horribly messy, everywhere, things thrown stashed and categorized by little but chaos or universal forces, which oddly enough seem to favor putting clothes on the floor, food hanging in bags from hangers in the closet, work on the kitchen table and half a sandwich on the desk)...I don't even notice what's going on when it's happening, and so don't really ever care about it.

...and then there's the other side that gets swung to nearly as often as the first: neat as a pin, organized to a degree only rivaled by the files in my computer or the visualizations of the mind. Like someone with OCD coupled with a further obsessive need to have all of the physical surroundings not only BE ORDERLY but also MAKE SENSE, the MOST SENSE, in fact, to be designed for OPTIMIZED EFFICIENCY.

And then there are no junk drawers. Junk drawers become conquered right along with the junk cabinets, junk floors, junk bed...because there is no sense in cleaning if it isn't striving for perfection, now isn't there?

Aaaand that's my life. :phear:
