Have heard that. However isn't it only like 1 hour of content anyway?

Yeah, not much. I played some other characters and they seem more interesting than the witch doctor I originally played.

I concur. The game has been really dumbed down and achievements? Really? Are they really trying to cater this game to the retarded populace?

I will however reserve finally judgement for the release.

Let's complain about a game that hasn't even come out yet.

Really, we're bashing games for including achievements now?

Don't hate cause you didn't get a beta invite.

Good thing I pre-ordered the game.

You could have at least explained how the game has been dumbed down.

When?

Well, it's a long story filled with a lot of sighs.

At a young age, my father... my father, he never bought me a Nintendo 64. He only cared about his work. He still only cares about his work. It's like I never grew up with a father. The end.
*Crowd applauses.*
The lone protagonist wanders on through the mist of life — searching.. searching..

Diablo 2 doesn't work on her computer.

I've played Diablo 2.

Join the club, kiddo.

And I only had an Atari growing up. Life was hard.

I'm hoping that with greater difficulty comes greater levels of interest. D3 looks to promise good social gaming once you reach the higher levels. D2 was plenty hard at nightmare and hell level (particularly for solo sorceresses damn magic immunes), now there is some new difficulty which should prove entertaining.
Add the PvP element and I would put my chips on it being a worthwhile pickup.

The beta is free to play this weekend if anyone is interested. Currently some bugs logging in but they should be fixed soon.

It turns out the "bugs" are actually just a restriction on how many people can log in at any given time, so play at weird hours I guess?

I'm going to reserve judgement on the PvP until I actually play it. It could be absolutely terrible (reminiscing about certain periods of WoW imbalances), but it could be good.

My favorite aspect of the beta was the randomization. I did multiple boss runs to get my character maxed out. Each run, while similar, was never the same. I managed to find the scripted trapped chest event from the release video, and in a different run, I found a librarian that morphs into a demon when you take his book. Little things like that add so much replay value.

I thought it was a little bland too. It just didn't feel very... "Diablo" to me. It's hard to explain. Maybe it's nostalgia goggles, but it didn't have the foreboding, gothic, evil feeling of D2. It was half grimdark tryhard, half cartoony, which made the atmosphere a little unbelievable.

The game was very streamlined and combat felt awesome, though. I actually like how they simplified the skills and attributes, although some of my friends didn't.

But I'm not that thrilled about the always-online DRM -- which to be fair wouldn't be an issue for me, it's just the principle of it -- the cash item shop (lolpay2win), the fact that it will be $60 USD, and some other features about the game (no Necromancer?! Witch Doctor was fun, but without rolling around with a skeleton army, I just don't know if it can be a Diablo game.)

I'll reserve full judgment until release. I had a lot of fun with the beta, and while it just feels a little disconnected with the rest of the series somehow, it was still awesome in its own right. I'll definitely buy it and play the crap out of it. :)

I'm also very excited about Torchlight 2. It will be $20, have modding, LAN/Single/Online, and is being made by some of the original guys at Blizzard North who were responsible for Diablo 1 and 2, including the dude who did the music. IMO, Torchlight 1 was mechanically perfect for an ARPG, but was crippled by the single-player only, and these types of games are only fun multiplayer. My friends hate me for it, but I'm actually looking forward to TL2 more.

This. It'll be fun to play when it comes out, though I have like two weeks off from school before it comes out and then summer research and classes start up on May 16th.

sigh.
