Would you agree to say that everybody on earth is in someway deluded?

Opinions are self expressed delusions of your surroundings or life.

The only thing not delusional, is the truth. But who's to say that those who only follow the doctrine of truth are not also deluded in their thinking?

Our each individual perception of reality and how it should be lived, is a delusion. qed

How is cynicism not a form of delusion?

Observational evidence suggests that other people fail to meet expectations. If one's thoughts are not in line with this observation, one is deluded. The only non-delusional response is a healthy cynicism.

I guess what im trying to say is that each persons interpretation of the world, leads to an inevitable deluded (probably using the wrong word) mind frame. Such as body builders, they work out only to gain muscle for self satisfaction, and to win competitions. They dedicate their lives to this, and for what? This can go the same for everybody else.

For because they want to. Does it have to be for something greater than that?

Lol how can you ask that to an INTP? Surely they want to, that's obvious sensory information. Take it a step further and waste some time contemplating the pointless aspects of life.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean.

But there's no getting away from it, even as we have this conversation we're caught in the delusion that what we say is in any way significant; as SpaceYeti demonstrates it may be better not to think about such things and simply do whatever makes us happy.

I completely agree to not base anything on the idea that everybody is deluded in their own mind frame. Just a question proposal to see if I'm making any sense.

I think I've begun to envy those that are... I suppose more grounded in their delusions than myself, such as the body builders you mention, I don't desire that particular delusion but I do admire the confidence, the decisiveness, the certain something-something that motivates such people to take charge of their lives, even if it's in a direction I personally wouldn't want to go in.

How does one foster that in oneself?

I never said there may not be more, only that they require no more.

Is someone delusional if they recognise that their perceptions are only a loose representation of reality, even if those perceptions are wrong?

If ones' expectations are so high that they are not in line with the normally expected level, one is deluded. That is okay, if not healthy.

Delusion is another word for ignorance. Is someone here trying to give ignorance a bad name?

Well confidence by definition is self-delusion, so unless you're easily sucked into a state of obsessive delusion for prolonged periods of time, you'd have to learn to do that. Make yourself think you're good at something, and you'll eventually start to believe it.

Is someone delusional if they recognise that their perceptions are only a loose representation of reality, even if those perceptions are wrong?

Yep, in theory. That's about where I am.

Everyone has a perspective. Delusion is too extreme a word for what you seem to be getting at; seeing only a portion of reality does not mean one has a wrong perception, only a limited perception.

It almost seems as though you're confusing delusion and subjectivity. At any rate, I would say nearly everyone suffers from delusion.

Buddhists contend hate, greed and delusion create worldly strife and separation. I agree; mainly because if you eradicated private property, jingoism and propaganda things would be much better.

I take umbrage with the bolded part, specifically. An observation can be both subjective and accurate. You seem to propound that subjective = wrong which isn't categorically so.

In such a way, you preclude the possibility of an insular consciousness attaining Truth.
