How well do you see color?

http://www.xrite.com/custom_page.aspx?pageid=77&lang=en

It's obviously not a true "intelligence test," but it could be interesting.

I got a perfect score on my first shot, yet I wear glasses. :storks:

I also know of otherwise fully functional adults without color blindness who scored in the 50s.

There are two blocks in the third row that are more green than the exemplar green on the left. It's confusing the shit out of me.

I scored 12.

I really like the design of the site and test, very easy to use.

I scored 4. My problem was the pink/brown spectrum.

In the screenshot in the OP spoiler.

And 12 really isn't that bad, considering someone else I know got a 57...

0 =/= perfect.
So I'm a little in the sleep-deprived jibber jabber stuff right now, but... huh?

There was totally a notification congratulating me on my perfect score before that screen.

Yes, the numbers don't appear to make any sense though, given the range of scores. But that bar thingy is pretty... low.

I didn't get any colorey thingys...

This isn't one of those evil little semantics things, is it?

The problem I have with these tests is lack of endurance. I did the first one perfectly then was like.... this is taking to long to move stuff around. So I winged it and got 23. It's like IQ tests, they take too long I have never finished one properly.

Ah! I just took the screenshot at the end. You're all stopping when you see the pretty colors instead of comparing your results to your age cohort. I didn't screenshot the colorful stuff.

Choose your age and sex below all that colorful stuff and it takes you to the same screen I got. Your score is shown with the percentile. My score was 0 and was 0th percentile.

Oh wait what?

I was probably generalising too far. I assumed that since you can get negative scores, and low is good, the fact that Reflex got -3 rendered your score of zero imperfect.

I actually took this last week. It said something about moderate/severe. I don't remember the number, but could have been 153(edit-took it again, or it was an other similar test I took- scored 117 now).

It's odd though, I feel my world is both vibrant and full of colors. Rainbows are amazing, and people like my photoshopped pictures.

Complements on my make up is a bit up and down, but usually people are fascinated.

Edit 2, if I had my Donal Duck glasses here, I could probably score close to zero as well. I can at least pass Ishihara plate tests with those or similarly colored lenses(for stealth), whereas otherwise I fail). But things looks weird. I don't like to use them.

0 ( Perfect Color Acuity )

I thought it would be worse because I got lazy after doing the first one, which I did meticulously. I wonder if it matters whether or not you're meticulous or not then. It seems like it wouldn't really make that much difference - your first impressions will probably be almost as accurate as you can make it.

I ended up with a 12, pretty content with that. I think I would have gotten a lower score if I'd been more meticulous about it.

I've been in debate with one of my supervisors over the use of colour in a film, me insisting it uses green, him cyan (yeah, we have nothing better to discuss ) I'll show this to the bastard.

Works out at 7%. If 0% is perfect, and 99% is low. Then that puts me in the top 7% for my age group. Not bad for only a few minutes work, especially since I tell everyone that I don't have an eye for graphics.

Amazed I did that well. My mum's color acuity is much, much better than mine. She can spot the slightest color flaws in a coloured plate.

I retook it tonight and spent a little more time on it (since I had been at work before and kind of distracted) and got a 10 this time. Wheee. But yeah, like Don, my eyes started wigging out near the end. ;)

I dunno. What I did after I did a basic run through of all four lines was go through each line and start swapping consecutive tiles -- I could immediately tell whether the swap made the match better or worse. I had a number of changes at that point.

This was immensely mentally straining. It felt like the equivalent of attempting to lift a truck with all the strength I could possibly muster. I think I relied heavily on more generally applicable brain areas not automatically utilized for that task in daily life to increase accuracy and verify. I could sense them taking more and more charge the harder I tried.

I had trouble differentiating between some sets (two or three tiles) of colours on each row. The test itself starting playing tricks on my eyes and brain, twisting perception and causing certain illusions due to bands of hues on a screen or something.

Anyway, I sort of got engrossed in the process and found it didn't take as long as I thought it would. All I did was take colours similar to the key tiles and move them to their respective sides, and then organize tiles from this roughly solved state. I suspect that the process through which one completes this test has some effect on the results he gets, especially since all these tiles are some combination of two base hues. For instance, I grouped similar coloured tiles together and then tried to differentiate the similar looking ones as best I could, but had I been more meticulous, I could have, say, compared to similar coloured tiles to an obviously dissimilar coloured one; the contrast would have perhaps aided in discerning the differences between the two similar coloured ones.

I seems my greatest (and, according to this test, only) difficulty to perceiving minor differences in hue is in the yellow-green and blue-green area.

Red to green was horrible! They all started to look the same after a while. I swear once I started to get each color narrowed down then four blocks sitting together all merged into the same damn color.

Apparently I really suck:
  • Your score: 88 (0 = Perfect Color Acuity 99 = Low Color Acuity)
  • Gender: Female
  • Age range: 30-39
  • Best score for your gender and age range: 0
  • Highest score for your gender and age range: 1520
This really does not make sense to me. I mean I argue at length about if a color is green or blue with my friends and family all the time but 88? That can't be right. Maybe I'm reading the graph incorrectly?

That's essentially the process I followed -- a two-step. Actually a three step, as my final step was to go through each line and swap consecutive tiles, pair by pair, across each row; I could immediately tell if the swap was better or worse and could either keep it or put it back.

This is curious:
I took it with no glasses on and scored a 303.
While wearing glasses, I still scored a 101.
I have anisometropic ambylopia, and while covering the better of my two eyes I scored 481.
What do you all make of this?

I would conclude that 1s look a lot like 3s without glasses. :D

I did this as well. Moved all colours that were obviously closer to one end of the spectrum first, then started swapping consecutively and moving each tile 1 by 1 to the point where it was correct.

I guess strategy is quite important as well as actual acuity. I'm curious, how did everyone go about completing the test?

I went along based on the brightest shade, scanned through, and picked the next most-that-shadiest tiles accordingly. Sort of like a bird constantly hovering around an apple tree picking them in order of brightness or something. I may have swapped two that were side by side 4-5 times. Not often.

Hmm, I was doing that initially but I found it much easier to distinguish them side by side in the end. I found as well that when the bar was in correct sequence, it was hard to tell if it was indeed, correct.

I found that when I swapped tiles around when it was already correct I instantly realised the mistake - once it was out of order it was immediately apparent. In hindsight this was a bit redundant, I'm not sure I actually changed the order as a result of this double checking, more like paranoia than anything :phear:

This is how I tackled the test as well. Except that after the first 4 or so I started having to swap out two sitting side by side constantly.

I had a few friends take the test yesterday. I took it one more time as well. I had roughly the same score as before and my friends all scored between 4 and 10.

I guess I really do have accept their arguments regarding color now. I'm so depressed. :cat:

Scored 4 - didn't get to see the colourful chart afterwards though ?

Male 20-29

Just shoved the obvious shades to one end or the other and swapped where I could see it was wrong till it was one nice spectrum of colour :)

Didn't finish test cause eyes hurt and takes too long. But I did do the first section and it was pretty smooth. I guess that indicates I have good color vision even though I wear glasses too.

I'm somewhat color deficient. The last time I took this test I was around 150 or 160, but I took my time this time and got it down as good as I possibly could.

It says I have perfect color vision (0). I noticed that you can see different amounts of another color in the center of each color block. That made it easy.
