Ok folks. So far the chat has some fans, but there are so many more on the forum (For example Chimera, Venngennce, Auburn...you guys used to hang out in the flashchat, why not now?)

So, why are there not more people? Is it because of technical reasons? Then there is help, just ask.
If it is because of fear of addiction, well, then you are right and you should stay away

I've made an account on Mibbit, 'cos someone said that you could go on the flash chat with that, but I can't. Every time I try, i have to go on irc.mibbit.com since it thinks that the irc.ecnet one is dead. (That's the right one, right? *is confused*)

First you need a client, of course. I recommend HydraIRC. It´s small and fast, but still in development. You can get it here: http://www.hydrairc.com/index.php?page=downloads

After the installation you have to create a user identity. When you have done this you can click on the "New Server" in the top-left corner. Put then "irc.ecnet.org" in the box with the URI.
Click on Ok and you should see the server window. Just enter there "/j intpforum.com" and you should be right there.


I hope I have not forgotten something.

I'm terrible at computers (how non-INTP) because my big brother was always allocated as the computer guy so I never really had a chance to tinker with it. I need the most basic terms you have.

I'm going to follow Anthile's instructions so far because it has the least links, and the smaller the amount of links, the less likely I'll get sidetracked

Alas I will have to download it tomorrow because I'm trying to download iMesh at the moment after Limewire stopped working and there's some stupid "flashget" thing on my computer screwing it up. Will this be a problem when downloading?

Flashget is a download manager, its not supposed to cause problems but you could try unistalling it and getting Download Accelerator Plus, which never caused problems to me atleast. To substiture Limewire you should try Ares, its very good.

Currently I'm using pidgin. All it says is "Couldn't connect to host." Maybe I should download a different client =/

Did they say what the penalty is? As far as I know it's usually an hour, but since I do not really know the rules of the network, I can't say more.

Ok, i just mailed and pm-d you, but here as well:
You can join again, by using Mibbit, it shows the server not your but their own IP.

Otherwise i will look in the ecnet-wiki about that, how long it takes to allow you back in. Perhaps i will have to contact one of the IRCops.

It was some kind of Spamfilter and after Wisp posted some things of a config file the spamfilter kicked in.
Problem solved.(it came from a post of ######### (20 more of them in one line)).
