Anyways I don’t see that it matters

I was kind of hoping to get a clear ide a when I came here about how the moderators ran the place and the common consensus was that they pretty much don’t.

But now that I know what the policies are, and that things are censored in whatever way moderators feel is appropriate, and that it isn’t up to public opinion or public discussion - that this is a venue that is a poor fit for me, and is an inappropriate place for me to voice my philosophies or beliefs.

I’m a little disappointed because it’s really one of the few forums left. Forum culture is sort of dead by now. I thought this was something of a little sanctuary where people could enjoy having intellectual discussions without being policed. I was wrong about that...

So now I’m just sad, I guess. I thought I found my people when I discovered my MBTI. >_>
Now it’s back to square one in that regard. At least, if there are people like me who really want to know what reality is and understand the world, without brainwashing and bias and censorship - they’re just too much of a minority to really gather in any one particular place.

I’m sorry I misinterpreted this place. It’ll suck to miss the couple of friends I made here.

Still haven't got an exact answer, I mean if you are moderating the forum you can expect people to evaluate your judgements, it's part and parcel of moderation.

Is there any clear answer or will you just think our conjecture is ridiculous, even though that's literally the only device we've been able to use given the lack of a clear and concise response?

Here's a template:

1. Why was kormak banned?
2. Given the case of kormak's account slowing and making a new account, was he approached through a message to alert him of this rule so he can take action.
3. Where can we find this rulebook, or as redbaron referred to bygone rules "the old rules" are we supposed to look for a cryptic post in 2009, and compare it against other rules?
4. Justification of the duplicate account rule, in terms that represent the modern environment of this forum.

I just feel like this is a good possibility since that is the only user on this website that has expressed having an issue with me in the past. They also came out of nowhere and Adaire’s profile says she’s on hiatus.

She didn’t like me talking about how men should treat women in the dating scene. She seemed to think it was really arrogant and that I shouldn’t generalize. I tried apologize in a message but she was still pretty hostile to me. I took her advice to heart and I thought that on my diary thread we might have made up - but like I said, she’s the only person that has a problem with me here.

No, I’m genuinely saying that this site should be a platform where people can voice their philosophies and provide their reasoning for them.

4chan is a cesspool - everyone knows that. People there aren’t intellectual and most of them are just echo chambers for toxic beliefs that have no validity.

Having a discussion about Nietzsche, though? That is valuable and productive. Personally, I feel that many of Nietzche’s philosophies are fundamentally flawed from a logical point of view. Particularly his views on women and empathy.

But I can’t convince someone who idolized Nietzsche that their philosophy is flawed, if we’re not allowed to have that conversation. Instead, the person that believes in Nietzche’s doctrine will go on to read more Nietzsche, cement their philosophies more and more while they think introspectively about their lives, and struggle to see any views that intellectually contradict what they believe, because they’re suffering from conformation bias.

When this person has children or gets into a serious relationship, they’ll spread these beliefs to those closest to them. What’s worse - if they happen to be a young person - they may fall victim to the KKK or 4chan.

For us to move foreword as a culture, we need to allow progressive conversation, and you cannot fix what ails a person unless you let them talk.

I used to be sexist against men years ago, and I had NOBODY to talk to about it. Nobody could help me with my philosophy. I knew it must be wrong but I couldn’t see why, and that’s because I wasn’t allowed to talk about my ideas. It took me a massive moral effort and a crap ton of research, plus Jordan Peterson, to finally realize where I had gone wrong and why, and how I was being illogical. Because of that, I dodged the bullet and avoided becoming one of these “David feminists”.

Some would have wanted me to shut up and not educate myself, but just not think the things I was thinking. People will think them, if they’re the kind of people who think.

That’s why thinkers need to come together to discuss their thoughts and lend a devils advocate and contrary logic as needed - so we can all move forward as a productive, progressive, enlightened society.

1: to get to read Kormak's post which was deleted, so I can better understand the limits to freedom of speech, here.
2: for someone to contact Kormak and offer him a new account. He was controversial at times, but I think he's a good, interesting guy, and this community isn't big enough to lose him without good reason.
3: to have confirmed by the mods that no one was messing with Kormark's main account. The notion sounds strange, but I know little about computers, and several who know much more seem a little worried about this possibility.
4: for redbaron and Adaire to work on their manners. Since I joined the forum, a lot of their posts have been downright hostile. This surprises me, because everyone else has been very pleasant, and they are mods.

Again, this is a small community. Losing Tenacity was a hit, losing Kormak was a hit. Losing Inex and Rebis... Well, I think I would find somewhere else to hang out, then.

This sounds very reasonable. I think if we could resolve things in this fashion it would be satisfactory...

I might add though - that when it comes to freedom of speech, I think that we should have the freedom to voice controversial opinions as long as they’re not a deliberate attack on a particular person, and as long as they are posed as philosophical arguments/discussions - not just racist/sexist garbage.

For instance “Women are just stupider then men”, is an obnoxious, sexist comment that puts people down.

Discussions on male vs female neurology may not be heartwarming to me if they seem to generalize that women are inferior - but at least I can have the opportunity to intellectually argue my stance against that philosophy.

A platform is not the same as agency. If someone was to express controversial opinions they would surely be met with an array of differing opinions on here. I used to run around with a lot of anti-fa punks and they would do pretty dumb stuff like go to a bar in the middle of the countryside to protest a group of age 50+ fascist skinheads. Even though there was like 5 or so. Why did I think it was dumb? The influence of these people, sure they collectivized but their platform is fuck all, and if it was to be significant it would clearly be dealt with in a large way. These are not breeding grounds as much as they are retirement grounds, surviving in whatever dim location they can find. Their agency lacks, their platform is non-existent and it really becomes an ineffectual witch hunt which aggrandisizes their significance, you only make their presence significant by the pedastal you put them on in these small-scale circles.

If there were multiple racists on here, shitting on every forum with their junk then yes that should be stripped, but really I don't even see the need to ban this type of opinion because everyone under the sun has an opinion on racism so they'll have a hard time getting any footing, plethora of evidence showing the insignifiance of it all compared to what past generations thought.

Well I mentioned that earlier. If you walk through Kormak’s story, it very much sounds like his account was manipulated and his post deleted as a result of him potentially getting a little too verbose about a publicly inappropriate philosophy regarding Nietzsche.

The reason that upsets me is that I already have to spend half a post writing disclaimers so I don’t have to hurt people’s feelings - I don’t want to think some moderator is being a wallflower waiting for me to fuck it up, so they can swoop in and start sabotaging me behind the scenes.

Since it wasn’t you - maybe it was Adaire? Marbles is right. She was pretty rude, and she also seemed to get pretty pissed with Kormak. I don’t like talking about her behind her back - but I know she doesn’t particularly like me. I don’t want to spend a bunch of time on this forum if I’m just going to be shut down like Kormak was.

I know I can get carried away when I get overly into expressing an argument.

It's all came from a lack of clarity with a frequent member suddenly disappearing with moderators involved in some capacity. Conjecture builds when a clear process hasn't been suggested.

I second what marble has said really. I think it's their 3rd time repeating their point, but again no communication, so we're being left to conjecture.

Off topic : Is the kitty with the top hat coming back? You’re quite the peacemaker and I indeed feel passivised by your progressive posts! However the effect is somewhat dampened by the loss of the kitty with the top hat. I want to see the kitty, and imagine you speaking your passivist ideas in a foreign accent.

Also, let it be known that I’ve not been here long so I don’t know what the history of censorship is here. I just know that I was shocked by the business with Kormak, and then in making this post it seemed as if the idea that ideaologies were being censored was being confirmed. It’s good to hear information to the contrary.

Additionally me and Inex are the newest active members of this forum, so really we don't know anything about the logistics of this forum, the overhead of mods, admins and third-party ToS. A subtle thing that made me paranoid is at least Redbaron and hado have a discord, and if that included other moderators it could be a social divide. Red baron is made of irony and hado just responded "zero chill". It could be a mini-game to yous after so many years on this forum with the commoners demanding this that and the other that you end up not giving a fuck. Resulting in waving your flag of authority, making remarks on someone's point (which I usually find critical, like Adaire, meta-irony being Redbaron) and then bouncing off. Fits the structure of a power trip.

Granted it's not up for the mods to fulfill our request like we're yapping babies, but when hado made the decision to say "zero chill" in his disregard it's just made us default on conjecture by a lack of communication.

Understood and agreed. But maybe let’s still look into the issue insofar as the information that is available to us?

I think we (the members) would like to know where we stand and we would like to feel that our accounts are secure from being tampered with.

It’s also important to me to know whether or not a moderator banned Kormak’s second account (rather than a bot checking alrogithm), manually, before trying to help him address the issue with his first account.

I get over being upset pretty quickly though and I’m not upset anymore. Marbles effectively diffused my little temper tantrum and RedBaron brought to my attention that the fundamental belief upon which it was based may very well be inaccurate.

You see - I thought he might be confirming the belief. That’s what upset me. He’s now saying that, to his knowledge, these things did not happen - which means that more information is necessary at this point. So there’s no reason to get upset about things.

Kormak used to have a silly anime profile picture and then he switches to swain from league of legends, commander of some army. His abilities in the game were pretty good too, so that switched up my mental model of him. Oh and of course, the IT barbarian sitting on top of a heap of networking devices.
