Hi guys,

I just made a new site and I was just wondering if anyone can rate it? Click here to check it out.

Please rate it from 1-10 and tell me what you think. I just want some feedback. Nothing else. Thank you.:D

This is your first post and it's a link to your site, a forum no less.

You’re walking a fine line there; this could count as advertising.

Edit: 7/10, lose the splash page and cafe picture may be a bit too bright for introverts.

I'm not going to rate it out of ten. What kind of measure is that? Is ten a perfect forum? Show me a perfect forum. Are you meeting your own expectations?

Are your members comfortable? Are they posting? Are discussions and ideas flowing?

Come on, you just want to raise your profile, admit it ;).

That said, I think it's very easy on the eye, obviously you have a talent for graphic design.

"The forum's purpose is to unite the 16 personalitytype in one website. I want this forum to be a place for all different personalities to just lay back and have fun. :D"

Now that's a noble sentiment. :p

I'm not really familiar with MBTIcentral, I've been put off by the size, so I think it will be good to have an alternative multi-type meeting place. Especially one that's making an effort to be distinctive and welcoming.

On that note though... Stickynotee! What gushing welcomes! :phear: (Promise to keep him on a short leash if us INTPs come visiting? Please!)

edit: and I must add, we expect you to actually post something more here, fair exchange and all.

(Yeah, technically it counts as advertising and I could just delete the post, but in the interest of information sharing between the types, I'm being open.)

I'm also in agreement about the bright cafe picture. Personally, it made me a little uneasy. Maybe something a bit more...subdued, with less color variety. Not to say it wasn't an interesting picture, it was just a bit loud.
Perhaps add more sections for general chatting between the personality types, such as the subforums we have here (something about politics, hobbies, careers, etc.) to encourage varied discussion?

Quite frankly, I don't really like rating things, so I'm just going to leave you with feedback. (:

Is "stickynotee" a name, or did I get chided for not welcoming the new person?

Welcome Lance

*shudder*

Stickynotee looks to be their loudest and most consistent poster. Consistently gushy and inane. :phear:

If Lance contributes, he's welcome.

Thank you for rating my site Cognisant. The reason why I posted here is because I wanted input from intps since I am building a personality forum. I am not trying to advertise whatsoever. I use to post alot at MBTIcentral but I decided to create my own because I don't like the feeling of big forums.

Greetings! I believe that spending too long on a dark site can create a sort of brightness to a not so dark site. I think this is why it looks so bright. I will try to add your suggestions. I am trying to make the site as easy to use as possible So I'll probably add only a little bit of forums.

Is "stickynotee" a name, or did I get chided for not welcoming the new person?

Hi and welcome.
Your forum seems usable, the (café) image is perhaps a bit big. For me a bit 'loud' too, but i think not every type likes dark colours so that's ok. But it is a bit big, which is impractical when above of the interesting parts, i think.
Also, i think you need someplace where the types mix. If you only the type-related subforums, won't everybody stick to themselves? Then i could be just at different forums to see different types. But when you have a place which is specifically designed to be a meeting place, that would bring more interaction in your forum. But that only as a addendum to the typerelated subforums.

I didn't seem to be able to enter your subforums. Something with the redirection (although i had automatic redirection activated)? Anyway, didn't work with me.

@Cognisant/Chimera: I don't mind. I think it looks quite good. But then again, I'm mysteriously cheerful today for no good reason, so don't mind me.

@Love: Stickynotee's posts are quite intimidating, for some reason. When I read them, I can imagine the voice of a well-meaning, friendly, but unintentionally pushy and really loud person who's a bit too close... yeah, he's a little scary.

@Lance: Welcome to the forums, Lance :) . Nothing much to say, except that putting up the 16 types as the main thread/ link things doesn't seem quite right for the purpose of multidirectional discussion (I agree with Chimera). For now, you may consider making the place a little smaller, because it feels a little empty (there're no more than 15 or so active members, yes?) (I know it was made on the 12th, but the place reminds me of an empty mall in the mornings)

After rereading my post, I can conclude that I'm a liar. :1

EDIT: See Ogion's post. It explains my thoughts more clearly.

Thanks so much for your feedback. There is actually a general discussion forums on the site for all the personalitytypes to talk in. I will try out some of your suggestions.

Btw, what do you mean? Did you find a glitch on the site? Please let me know. Thanks.

Ah yes. Stickynotee is just a really friendly guy but he does get a little creepy because of that. :)

Anyways, thank you for the suggestion. The purpose of the site is for people to meet their personality type. The general discussion forum is to meet all personality types. I will however create better forums once it gets going.

General Chat should be right at the top of the forum list. "Introductions" are okay to have above it, but after that it must be GC.

I think it would be interesting to cry to create a modified version of a cafe that would be each personality type's ideal.

ESFP - bean bags, lots of people, a stage, detailed art on the walls
INTP - a cracked coffee cup on a messy desk.

ect. :p

BTW: Even as an INTP, I like rainbows. Though I would prefer that they were just shades of gray.

I did not mind the coffee cup at all... and actually, the gray background was almost (in my opinion) a perfect shade. I like the black/grays here, but I know other personality types would be annoyed by it... but the INFJs' pure white beats against my eyes relentlessly. The gray made it nice and peaceful.

Otherwise, yeah... I don't think you can compete with every other forum, if you're just looking for people to go in and meet others of their types. If anything, you'll probably get a better reaction turning it towards mixing types and getting to know about each other.

I say this for a pretty simple reason--most people on internet forums are introverts. If we stumbled across a gigantic forum, we'd back off and you'd stop getting new members. Then, if I wanted to meet other INTPs for instance, I'd (obviously) come to a place like this instead. Most of us are tired of trying to explain thoughts to people who either don't care or can't understand them, and there's a little sense of safety in a forum where you know that just about everybody judges you based on the quality of your thoughts almost exclusively, where other types generally don't. (although... I hesitate to say that, judging by people here talking about stickynotee's pushiness... should that really matter? just throwing it out there... I haven't read most of his posts or anything).

I still think I'll join if I have the time, just because I want to see/meet other personalities more, I like your idea, and I'm sure I have enough ideas to create a bunch of conversation topics to help draw in people who stumble across it... but I think it'll do better as a "come mingle with people from a variety of perspectives" forum than a "come meet more of your own type--no matter which it is" kind of site. Subtle difference, but I think it'll make a big one.

Thank you very much for the kind feedback. This forum is actually dedicated to meeting your own personality and other personalities. I think a lot of people want to learn about their personality and others as well that is why I made it. I have also made it so that someone who has chosen a particular personality can only post in their own personality forum. For example an Intp can only post in the intp forum and not in the other personality forum. If one wants to meet with other personalities, they can chat in general chat. :D

I'm not sure why you would want to do that... How does that encourage inter-type interaction?

In my opinion, it would be best to not have specific type subforums.

Yea,there's alot of forums that is type specific, they could go there instead, and I would certainly will consider other type's point of view.

Strangely,this reminds me of divide-and-conquer thing.:phear:

Well Lance welcome to the dark side. I visited your site. It is interesting and I think it has potential. Might I suggest that you put in a little more room for the different personalities to mingle. Perhaps you could think of some games to play, not like a video game but more like a game where a poster can come in and make a contribution. Though I think that something like "kill the last poster" may be a bit too dark for the other personalities.

As for the bright colors and busy scenery I love it. I don't know why people have a problem with these things.

Having the MBTI type by the name is useful. Perhaps it may aid in understanding or at the least information gathering. I have been on other MBTI forums and I don't recall noticing weather they did this or not.

Like, a brick-and-mortar cafe?

I like the idea. If the cafe had multiple rooms you could theme them for different types!

I'm all about the cognitive functions though... not to mention it'd be easier to theme 8 rooms instead of 16 :-P And you could cheat by leaving out some of the functions. Nobody really understands what Fi looks like anyway; I'm pretty sure my INFP girl is just making up what they describe as "Introverted Feeling".

Well I am not too sure yet but my site is still quitie small. This is what makes my forum different from others. It separates the 16 personality types. If I made a site exactly the same as others, what will make mine different? So far, not many are complaining about the separation. So its going great so far. :D

Ah yes, there are a lot of forums that are type specific, but mine is for uniting all into one forum.

The reason why my forum looks so bright to the users here at intpforum is because your forum is black. That is the only way to explain the brightness.

Ok, Lance, so i joined just now. (You made enough advertisement, i stumbled upon your ads everywhere, like in Youtube or other forums ;))

One question though: I don't have to partake in any "pet system" or other things like that? I can just use it as a forum to post text? ;)

Hm, i may be absent from these things, but if i don't disable the flash-play-plugin i don't have no fun with it (the littel buggers, pets, shown under the users avatar slow my computer down way too much). Did i say i hate flash? I hate flash.
I'll see how much time will be left of my general time after posting here, then looking there....

I looked around a bit for him when he said it was his goal to make people think critically... and he popped up on a bunch of forums with identical posts to the ones he gives here. I think he'd show up if he knew about it, but I'd be kinda surprised if he read this thread--or any other part of the forum here, for that matter

OK, that was scary Cryptonia, esp the advice for people whose partners are addicted to the net. Some woman upped and left her husband and family to go and live with someone from India she had been chatting to.

I'm now a lot more sympathetic to my husband; but he sits and watches football all afternoon at the weekend. What's the difference? I suppose its the fact that the net is on demand and can get in the way of everyday activities.

if the internet causes people to forget about things like work or school, i can see it being a problem, but i still find it odd that its supposedly not a good substitute for a social life to people. i don't see much difference between chatting with people online and chatting in real life (besides positive differences).

edit- also, the fact that its a web addiction web site; the irony is not lost on me.

But even though. I disagree with the common description of "virtual world". Why is it supposed to not be real?? Am i not talking to you? Don't i have reactions to your posts? Don't i imagine you people? How does it differ from the 'real' world? (imo, it doesn't really, not in any important way)

Oh darn. I believe the admin is still here. He pays for the hosting bills so he obviously is scouring the forums. Can you pm them if they are on and tell them to contact me at personalitycafe.com? I really want to form a partnership with you guys. :)

Holy moly! I haven't updated this thread in a while!!

Anyways, just an update, my forum has now grown into a thriving mbti community. Made some changes with the layout and added more features such as an arcade, cafe store, and more forums. I also added a feature where users can login using their facebook accounts.

The forum gets 150+ users at any given time and I was interviewed by someone because of the sites growing popularity...

Thanks for giving me some feedback. It really helped with the success of the site.

Your site is a great idea, though a bit flashy as previously mentioned.

On a more interesting note; do you say "God bless you!", "Gesundheit!" or something similar when someone sneezes?

Hello,
I have to agree with Cog. I did not get much past the Splash page, so 7/10(?)

You might ask your regulars for ideas for a Design/photos/paintings for that page - it would allow the to feel empowered and be able to claim the site as their own.. (hint!, hint!)

One idea would be to have a venue for Us versus Them games/chat/ backstabbing/chainsawing/blood letting/dismemberment...(OoH, back to topic)

We had a few INTP versus INTJ threads, or INTP versus all the other types threads going at one time or another - so once a community forms around individual types then type-teams could form...

BTW - Vbulletin is about to come out with a new version, 4.0 - it might be worth looking into... (hint, hint)

Bigger is not necessarily better, we have a relatively small community here, with generally speaking (except for NOID10ts) lots of intelligent, considerate people participating... I see it as a high-status suburb of the megapolis that is the internet... (none of those trashy ads all over the place)
We even talked about establishing an Elitist private school...
See thread WELCOME to the UNIVERSITY of INTPIA in School and Work...

I, personally do not like crowds of strangers.. but maybe it is just me...
