Dear friends of photography, could you recommend some quality cameras? I'd say anything up to $1000 is fair game. I may be headed to Bosnia this summer for a class, and I think it's finally time I bought a decent camera to properly document the culture/country. I'd primarily be using it for scenery/landscape shots, if that makes a difference. I'm thinking a Canon or a Nikon would be best, but I'm really not sure. So like, recommend something! Thanks.

I got the one that sold for $550, but then got some extras to go with it, I purchased some extra memory, a tripod and some other accessories, but I do not think I have more than $700 invested in everything...

BTW - not to insult your intelligence, but it really pays to "shop around" before purchasing a camera. Even on that Sony page there is an advertisement for "Weekly Specials"

Well my method of madness is to first decide what model I want, and then I google it and find a reasonably safe site that is selling it for cheap. However, I'm in the very early stages of looking at purchasing a camera, I probably won't buy anything for several months.. so right now I'm not really looking at prices, but models.

Well this camera comes with a lens (18-55 mm), but you're able to buy others depending on your needs. They're easily interchangeable.

You should also check out the Nikon D5000. I was recently looking for a camera and decided on buying this one. I haven't bought it as yet otherwise would have been able to give you a better review. But it was highly recommended by a professional photographer friend. You should be able to get the camera with 2 lenses plus accessories for around $1000.
