Bullet Train was surprisingly entertaining

I didn't expect much, so I didn't watch it in theatres. Once it was picked up by Netflix I gave it a chance.

I thought it was going to be obnoxious the first 10 minutes, but by the end the movies logic grew on me. Probably need to detox after though.

it was ok, not Tarantino-tier tho
One of these days I'm gonna binge all of those. Especially since he's apparently retiring. Only have a handful under my belt. I think it would be more enjoyable with friends. Did a similar thing with Edgar Wrights cornetto "trilogy".

Yeah, went to watch Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in theaters and really enjoyed it. seen some people saying it wasn't that good... maybe they wanted more blood and guts, but to me it was real well crafted.

everything else i've seen also golden, think theres only a few i haven't seen....

was surprised to see Tarantino's name on Natural Born Killers even iirc

I found Bullet Train disappointing, and I shouldn't have bought the 4K sight unseen. It's not bad, it's just derivative and not as good as every movie it was aping -- including, yes, Tarantino style flicks. I felt like the pacing was bad too; it was billed as a frantic action picture, and it's got a lot of dead space with quick bursts of energy that never lasted as long as I hoped. However, Andrew Taylor-Johnson was just really great; I didn't even recognize him at first. I felt like the relationship between him and his bro made the latter half of the film better.

I mean, I've been waiting for Tarantino to fail, but damn, he just knows how to make interesting films. I think my least favorite film by him was Jackie Brown, and it was still good. I did really enjoy Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as well, despite wondering whether I would. I had read a lot about the Manson murders, and that was a hell of a fantasy ending that no one saw coming -- does that make it a feel-good film now? lol. I felt like the film was really respectful of Sharon Tate and did justice to her memory. And that whole center section where Brad Pitt visits the Manson farm... welp, again, Tarantino's skill as a filmmaker, it was all dripping with tension.

Even [insert] got a backstory. I have a pension for absurdity I guess. My expectations were way lower because I have seen a series of "The [mundane thing]" that are just lack luster. This was a pleasant surprise that tried to take itself seriously while making itself a joke at the same time. Not a masterpiece I guess, but a pleasant surprise to me at least.

Hey, if you enjoyed it, that's great. I think I've just seen so many crazy films that it didn't stand out as much to me. It was kinda like Gunpowder Milkshake, which I also badly wanted to love but was kinda lukewarm to as well, after having seen Kill Bill 1 and Ready or Not and The Hunt and such a ton of crazy amusing action/shock pics. I'm sure there's a ton more in there, I just can't recall them right this sec.

Yeah it was pretty funny, I watched it in theater, and that moment where they reveal Ryan Reynold's face literally made me choke on my Pepsi. The Evil Girl was too obnoxious though, would've been better if she died or was replaced entirely.

If I HAD to be critical of the movie, I would say that it's too abhorrently violent. They create this concept of luck and it doesn't get resolved. This is because it doesn't want to be. Then it would ruin the movie.
