This may or may not be accurate.

Here's a video and you have to answer whether or not you found it funny as well as your MBTI type. This is an experiment by me.

There is no answer along the lines of 'I found this funny because someone asked whether or not I found it funny before I watched the clip.'

I can see the video has the potential to be funny ... for those who understand it. I didn't understand it so I voted "not funny."

Later. Played it again. It appears to be pro one country making fun of another. Not funny.

An utter waste of time. Not funny at all. Do you seriously have a theory that one type or the other is likely to find this funny?

I found the absurdity of this somewhat amusing - the "hahaha wtf is going on aha" type of funny. Better than geek jokes and overdone memes for sure.

Also, I will point out that if you seriously want to look at humour differences between types, you have to look at the -why- rather than the -what-. Two people could laugh at the same thing for different reasons. Then, find things which appeal only to one type of humour (relate this to cognitive processes if possible) and use to test.

This thread is now a "post funny shit, and then people reply with whether they think it's funny". If you want. You could not, idc go away

If you like video games you will like this video. It is an excellently done satire. I think you will like it as much as I like it.

Andropov. I can visualize that a person who feels perhaps oppressed and limited in one country might find satisfaction in characterizing another country as even weaker than they are. So they would be happy to imagine that other country in an even weaker position (INTJ) and in succeeding find it funny. What do you think?

I like the music, as I am from this region of the world.

The message is stupid typical Serbian nationalism that led to the defeat and the corruption of Yugoslavia which lead to it's demise.

I found funny how the soldiers were playing music as it's interesting how integrated the military is within our musical culture back where I'm from.

Overall though, not funny.

If you're too thick to get it, the video is mocking the thousands of similar serbian/russian/bosnian/chechen/etc nationalist videos on youtube. What the fuck. I don't understand how anyone could think it was serious. Did you even read what it said? "Give us back our clay, Bosnia. We will take back our sacred clay." Who fights over clay? "Bosnian wizard"? Who believes in wizards. It's, again, obviously satirical.

Without having seen any of those kinds of videos, it was obvious that it wasn't serious :S way too fucking obvious.

Do INTPs often have a hard time telling whether something is meant to be taken seriously or not? I've noticed quite a bit of it, but maybe that's the same with everyone.

Andropov - I think you see INTJ humour as being mostly satire yes? The humour is more in making fun of someone else, than in self-contained jokes.

In my own case, I have seen none of those videos. Although I'm vaguely aware of the situation in the former Yugoslavia, I really lacked adequate context to make sense of the video.

What the fuck. I don't understand how anyone could think it was serious. Did you even read what it said? "Give us back our clay, Bosnia. We will take back our sacred clay." Who fights over clay?

If you understand clay to mean earth or land, lots and lots of people fight over it. This is not so far-fetched if you consider that the people in the former Yugoslavia are typically not native English speakers.

"Bosnian wizard"? Who believes in wizards. It's, again, obviously satirical.

Wizard might not be meant literally. There's also the chance that whoever made this is not a native English speaker and got some bad translations. In English, for example, a witch can mean a woman who casts magic spells, or it can mean a mean-spirited bitch. Maybe there is some foreign word that means both wizard in the English sense and something insulting like witch does in English, and it got translated as wizard.

Personally, I didn't even notice these lines in the video. I mainly remember a bunch of "ha ha ha ha ha" lines and some jingoism. I usually expect satire to be smart, and this video didn't seem smart.

Not either of those types, but I don't find it funny either. It had potential to be funny, as propaganda is hilarious as shit. (Feces-related humor will never die.)

It wasn't the best satire in my opinion because it juxtaposed too many elements. I could see the creator and hir friends laughing themselves half to death over this. It seems like an inside joke, which is not so great for a YouTube video that appeals to the masses who like satire. Due to all the disparate elements it ends up making more people than most scratch their heads in confusion, I would guess. It's more of a WTF than a LOL.

There does need to be more propaganda-based satire, though. These stills from a North Korean propaganda video at last year's Shanghai Expo could form the building blocks of a pretty funny video. Oh the (inferior video quality) possibilities!

The Mario parody (more like people who make crappy flash videos parody) was pretty funny. I'll raise ya one. Here is another video. Let's see who thinks good ol' Billy Bob Neck is a bona-fide teabagger...

It's not the video that isn't smart, it's you. If your sense of humor was more developed, you'd find this funny. If you could put humor in a heirarchy with the humor that requires the least mental gymnastics to "get" at the bottom, (lolcats, 4chan, jeff dunham, etc) and the humor that requires the most at the top, this video would be at the tip of the pyramid.

It's not an inside joke at all. The large amount of strange seemingly unrelated juxtapositions is part of what makes it funny.

I don't know. I know that the creator of that video, CBoyardee, is an INTJ. Part of Ni seems to be a sense of "awareness", for lack of a better word. Ni-doms tend to be the best trolls; this guy http://answers.yahoo.com/activity?show=Swa0PBFVaa is probably an Ni dom. I don't know, this could be all bullshit.

hmm.. we have had 12 people voting and so far 12 of them didn't find this video funny at all.
10 were INTP according to themselves.

No matter how bad our humor is Andropov, you mentioned this was actually some kind of experiment and I am eager to hear what you can make of all of this :)

That is INTJ humour.

One pattern I see among Ni users is assumptions that what is obvious to them is obvious to others. Most of them realise this though, except when it comes to humour. My Ni friends often tell me a joke, but it may take a while for me to realise the line of thought that leads to it being funny.
Ne humour, on the other hand, is a joke in itself. The joke is more or less immediately apparent and not reliant on making any connections to understand it, but Ni users seem to see Ne jokes as brash and perhaps unrefined.

I thought it was hilarious! And then found I am so far the only self-professed INTP who thought so.

What gives me a belly laugh is the truly absurd, while this video was probably meant to be serious it comes off as ridiculous slapstick. Larry David is an INTP, this is in the same vein as his stuff.

My INTP son would love it too (won't show him as he's too young for it).

I've found other INTP's to have a generally coarse sense of humor, slapstick and stupid jokes that break through the Ti/Ne shell are what works for me and others.

I've only seen one or two of the types of videos I'm talking about but I still understood it was satirical.

I don't know whether the video you posted here was truly satirical, but there is certainly a big chasm between some knowledge about something and no knowledge about it. You have some basis for telling whether this was satirical, and I have none.

I would assume someone with no knowledge at all about the conflict would still come to that conclusion, unless they have Aspergers or are mentally deficient in some way or another.

And you would be dead wrong in your assumption. There are lots of just plain stupid videos on Youtube, and this has all the appearances of being just a plain stupid video. Satire is supposed to make a point. What point does this video make?

It's not the video that isn't smart, it's you. If your sense of humor was more developed, you'd find this funny. If you could put humor in a heirarchy with the humor that requires the least mental gymnastics to "get" at the bottom, (lolcats, 4chan, jeff dunham, etc) and the humor that requires the most at the top, this video would be at the tip of the pyramid.

And comments like that reveal a grave lack of intelligence. To assume anyone who doesn't find something in particular funny is stupid or even just lacking in a sense of humor is just plain stupid. For one thing, you are making a hasty generalization on the scantiest of evidence. All you know about my sense of humor is that there is this one particular thing I did not find funny. You still know nothing about what I do find funny. Besides that, you are simply underestimating the importance of having some context. With satire, it normally helps to have some knowledge of what is being satirized.

This sounds plausible. It fits my past experience with dominant Ni people. People who think what is obvious to them should be obvious to others can be very annoying, especially when they get condescending and insulting about it. Given this, it seems likely that the OP is a dominant Ni.

The song playing on the background is actually one of my favorite! The first minute of this video was real funny especially the dancing alien, accordeon playing soldier, the random old dude on the couch and phrases such as "YOU LAUGH MY ASSHOLE HAHAHAHA.....TURK!". But when the second minute started it seemed to get rather scary. If you call someone a clay stealing wizard, the gloves are off, matey! Also taking into account the religious conflict in the Balkan you have to ponder the islamic and judeo-christian symbolism of the words clay and wizard. I think he mentioned horses there as well, but that just got me thinking of that song by Q. Lazzarus:confused:...
Oh and the last minute...it was just unintelligible shit!

...If you could put humor in a heirarchy with the humor that requires the least mental gymnastics to "get" at the bottom, (lolcats, 4chan, jeff dunham, etc) and the humor that requires the most at the top, this video would be at the tip of the pyramid.

This quote is actually a great example of the Ni humour previously explained by Cogwulf. Andropov, did it ever occur to you that while this video was at the tip of the pyramid the major consensus might be that the pyramid was actually upside down?

I thought I would throw in an example of what I take to be great INTP satire. I do not have any personal information on the person who made this video, but based on the content of this video and others he has made in the same style, INTP seems likely.

I think you guys are way over thinking and over analyzing this.

To me it's a self-parody real life version of Borat. What plays out for the maker of the video is funny to me, just like those Japanese daytime TV shows that I find really funny and weird. I'm sure a lot of US video is the same to other people.

Whats funny is - like in Borat - the unsophistication of the videographer. The mismash of clips, especially of a local nature, comes off as totally funny, and the writing, 'clay stealing wizard'? Come on, that's such rich word play.

This was the only video I actually lol'd at. I liked the music in the OP's video, but found the video itself to be endlessly boring, trying entirely too hard, and mostly unintelligent. I'm also confused as to why the OP is trolling when INTPs love to argue so much that trolling really doesn't have the same effect here. I suppose I have no need to understand such motives.

I don't think very many other people found the video you posted hilarious. But if that's what you like then that is fine.. However, I don't think you should be on the defensive to people who don't feel the same, ya know?

I kind of understand the point of your experiment with the video but the only problem is that the experiment isn't objective because you are filtering it through your personal ideas about what is funny.

And also, I'm sorry for being rude to you earlier. That wasn't nice of me. I have nothing against you and everyone should learn to except the opinions of others without being unkind (myself included). So I'm sorry.

Considering you thought this
