The aptly named John Pi will whip this forum into a frenzy. I like how they instruct the reader on how to pronounce Pi at the end...we know pi! :D

I don't get why I would identify with him.

I'm not a computer programmer.
I never went to medical school.
I'm not a doctor/surgeon.
I don't work for the FBI.
I'm not married with two kids.
My skills aren't in demand.
I don't face huge debts.
I was never a reserve officer.
I don't speak Mandarin or German.
I am not scientifically gifted.

Huh?

He is somebody that works... so no I don't identify with him.

Well I'm not a doctor, FBI agent, programmer or have any of the things he has.

But, I identify with him because he can't seem to stay interested in one thing for long. He wraps his head arounds it, figures out how to do it well, then moves on.

That's why I identify with him. Classic INTP trait in my opinion.

DUH.

He actually applies himself though(university, Police academy, medical school, FBI pre-training, learning new languages etc). More of a jack-of-all-trades dynamo than a under-stimulated and easily bored intellectual .

ENTP or ENTJ maybe, but definitely not INTP.

The whole article I just kept thinking his last name must be some sort of pun. It must be!

And then they told us how to pronounce it!

As far as the actual applying himself part, that is a skill beyond me, but the passionate learning of something that takes skill and/or thought then losing all interest as soon as he's got it down... yeah. I get that.

Anyway. I want to sit in a car eating donuts and drinking coffee and surveillance-ing someone by myself all day.

Also, the odds that I would agree to an interview ever are pretty low.

Lack of application of yourself is not an INTP trait. I'm full on INTP, and I can apply myself thoroughly when something challenges and interests me.

INTP is a large population with nuances, we're not all the same. But I think a general INTP trait that we all have in common is multiple interests, that are intellectual, and we tend not to enjoy ruts. I need change after a couple years.

I don't think that interview is enough to classify him, and I don't think it matters anyway, but I think I could see my life following a similar path as his. Not so much the exact details (though I am planning on medical school), but the path. Moving around, deciding I'd like to try something completely different because it looks fun/interesting (law enforcement seems fun).

I'm already a paramedic/firefighter, so I can vouch for the ability to apply yourself as an INTP. Paramedic school isn't med school by any means, but I did actually have to try (which I understand is the exception to the rule: INTPs don't really ever have to try to pass.)

I am not fully convinced I am an INTP. But I too can apply myself. I just, don't, for some reason, most of the time.
