I would like to set up a thread to appreciate Lor, for which she will probably hate me for evermore. (Sorry Lor)

Lor tremendously underrates her abilities. She is a constant source of support and appreciation for everyone on this forum. She is highly complementary of the work of others whilst unfavourably comparing herself to them. She simply does not appreciate her own skills and talents. I remember coming on this forum for the first time (I didn't have a clue what I was doing or how it was going to change my life - God, how naive was I!). The first thing that struck me was the beautiful delicacy of Lor's writing. I was entranced and have been entranced ever since.

I know your situation is difficult Lor but I would love to read more of your work. You have a great talent. Don't compare yourself to others. Does Iris Murdoch compare herself to JK Rowling? Does Salmon Rushdie compare himself to Martin Amis? They all have different arenas to play in; there's plenty of room for everyone. If you have a voice people want to hear it. They don't want to compare the voice of Milan Kundera to Ian Fleming or Ian McEwan. Each has their own special voice. Each is unique. And we want to hear more of your unique voice - just a little excerpt :)

The first step is always the hardest. It becomes easier after that.

Please, don't hate me for starting this thread. I hope I haven't put my foot in it. I only want to encourage you.:o:o:)

She wrote so many insightful, delicate, elaboratate things on the spot in this forum that I can hardly imagine what her polished writing would be like. It CAN'T be bad, thats for sure.

It was one of her posts that coaxed me out here, too. haha I was poking around MBTI forums a little bit, after researching MBTI, and only decided to make an account here because I thought it necessary that someone point out how awesome something she said was, and I didn't know everyone here well enough to trust them to do it.

In all honesty, I have to wholeheartedly agree with Nia here, sorry Lor.:D I don't think you realize the amount of support you give in this forum. I really haven't had too much direct interaction with you Lor, but I've never needed it in order to observe and admire you from a distance. There's a balance in you that I really wish I had myself.

If there is such a thing a being 'too humble', I think this would describe you very well. From what I've gathered from your posts, there's always an area that you feel inadequate or incomplete in - although in my eyes, you seem more complete than most anyone I know.

Lor is one of the main people who keeps me checking back on this forum. She's also (unintentionally) assured me that I belong here and that I'm not just some uneducated kid who knows nothing. I think if not for her, I would be posting far less than I already do.
I'm not gonna apologize for posting here, Lor, 'cause you need to realize how awesome you are, and I want to help if I can.
:)

And Nia, thanks for setting up this thread in the first place. xD

The forums caring big sister (Ok, so i never had a sister, but i imagine it this way ;))...
(This seems like a short unimnaginative appreciation post, but it isn't, at least in appreciation :))

I agree with what everyone's said. Though I have little to no relationship with her, ever since I joined this forum, I think I've claimed her as my virtual INTP aunt. everyone needs one of those, right?

@ Cognisant, I didn't think INTPs ever got this soppy or intimate. I thought it would stop with the Appreciation Thread. :o

*hides feelings of admiration, though they have already seeped out*

Oh don't let me spoil the soppyness,

Although I do think long-term exposure to this forum is turning INTPs into INFPs

Gaaaaa. Die die die!
Quick, do something caustic, to regain your sensibilities before we have to get out the stakes and crufixes.

@-Jennywocky
Was that directed at me?
...I don't know from somewhere you do I?
I've been exorcised several times, to little effect.

Although I've only talked to her on and off, LoR is one of the most amazingly strong, amazingly beautiful women I have been honored to meet. Very cool, hon -- and yes, we'd like to see more of your writing. I imagine the harder you try to polish stuff, the more difficult it feels to write well; your impromptu posting seems quite lyrical.

yes! Just like Ermine said, an aunt. I was thinking "mom" until I read that word... then I realized that describes her much better. My virtual INTP aunt.

Am I the only one who imagines her as a colorfully dressed late teen with a butterfly on the back of her denium jacket whom just happens to be a werewolf?

Maybe that's because to me "Aunt" is the insane person who threw me across a room as a baby.

I guess some of that is my fault... :o
But I don't apologize for it. To be honest, there's a part of me that secretly wishes to maybe inspire others to express it more. It's not out of mischief, it's just that I see the benefits of possessing tenderness and sincerely wish it upon each of you.

(dang... I'm so corny)

uh... probably. LOL.

Sigh. Way to down the entire thread, dude!
Then again, we're back to good ol' INTP Land now! Woo-hoo!

Not so much as an aunt to me, more as that sister who gives you the 'eye' when you're being just a bit too stoo-pid and silly and who reminds you of who you are because she just 'kinda knows'.
And I would like to say that I respect her deeply for what she has done here and all the hard work and time she puts in.

Except for the times when she is utterly hateful.

Who am I kidding? I like her even more when she is being hateful.

This was meant to be about Lor's writing.

What with aunts and mothers - blah.

Sorry Lor. It's not your fault. I blame Freud.

Eeehh, this is problematic... okay, I really appreciate her. There, I said it. Please insert more emotional things in my place because I still can't say what I feel (one reason why I'm avoiding the appreciation thread). Ah well.

I agree, I had been avoiding this thread because emotional things were required of me. Usually I can get by if I have a clever and witty thing to say but, alas, I am at a loss for that as well. Suffice it to say, LOR that your work does not go unnoticed. I appreciatee you as well.

I have two responses...

Yep. Bound to happen.
Doesn't mean we don't appreciate Lor's writing.

Ti: I think expressing appreciation is the opposite of expressing an opinion for us. When we express an opinion we are very precise and exacting, but with appreciation we go child-like and just hug things.

Fe: Yay! Go LoR! We all love you!

But I'm not sure this will have the effect that is desired or wanted. In fact, it might have the opposite effect.

This thread was a badly thought through idea, sorry Lor.

But I'm not sure this will have the effect that is desired or wanted. In fact, it might have the opposite effect.

I'll admit that when I first got involved in the forum what got my attention were some theoretical errors that I felt compelled to correct, but as much as discussing theory has helped advance my professional goals, there's been a few people here whose perspectives have helped me grow in my personal life. LoR is one of those people and I would be thrilled to have a chance to read whatever garbage she spills onto a page.

If you have a desire to write, then by default I have a desire to read it. Even if your words fail to convey the insights as you imagine them, I hope you would still show it to others so that they may decrypt it and allow you to teach them.

Its unfortunate that it is our tendency, but I believe the only way for us to fail is to lose faith in ourselves and thus do nothing.

GROUP HUGS FOR LoR!!!!

But, on a more serious note, I tracked down alot of what LoR has posted and I must say that you can be profound and to-the-point in what you say and some of the questions you pose stimulate much thought.

Its unfortunate that it is our tendency, but I believe the only way for us to fail is to lose faith in ourselves and thus do nothing.
..and how true this is for me.:(

I'm thinking that if Lor herself posted a specific bit of her writings and asked for criticism, we'd have no problem at all providing it.
But providing it w/o being asked by her seems to me a little disrespectful.

Now that's just a little too meaty for my taste!

Thanks Eudemonia, for the good intention that has led us down this road to hell.

I mean Aunt!? - everybody's aunt!?

Shall I die now or after I've crocheted a tea cosie?

(ps. if I were to ever post anything it would be when I was convinced all attention were diverted elsewhere.)

(pps. I'm going to ban you all!)

I beg to differ, none can shout louder than I.

I thought I would add to this by pointing out that I do not love Lor.

I absolutely despise her.

To sum her up, she is one of the most vile, repulsive, and wickedly hideous creatures I have ever had the ill luck to trip over.

She is the only person I feel so strongly about in this manner, and if I had a choice, she would be hung, drawn, quartered and fed to a bunch of hungry yet not altogether innocent kittens.

Her ability to critisicse and undermine my grammar and personality, give her the title of 'mean' and the fact that she resembles a three headed turtle-pidgeon hybrid grants her the deserved name of 'muckajuk'

I would even go so far as to say that my immense hatred of Lor has caused me to not only post excessively, but to envitably join the forum in the first place, in the hope of embarassing, outdoing and eventually killing her.

So I think I'm entirely correct, (and alone) in saying,

LOR, I DESPISE THE VERY SPACE ON WHICH YOU LINGER DENYING THE EXISTANCE OF ANOTHER WHICH IS NOT YOU.

Like I said. She's quite hateful. When she is being nice, it's just a ploy to use and abuse us.
