I'm a music nerd not just as in the casual understanding of just liking more music than top 40 or whatever but I spend a major part of my time exploring music, genres, bands, sounds, acts, collect vinyls etc.
I've a theory (I like to call it that, but it's probably just a hypothesis) as to why I enjoy obscure music and I think they are very much valid arguments for actively seeking out "obscure music" but that's another topic and I've already forgot my point of bringing this up in the first place. Hmm.
Yes, as such I know a lot of obscure music and while I enjoy all kinds of music such as jazz, classical, blues, 'classic/blues rock,' varies kinds of electro etc. I've noticed I tend to prefer lo-fi music.
Lo-fi, distorted, raw, abrasive, noisy, high amounts of treble, feedback etc.
For example my favourite band is noise rock but I also enjoy industrial, power electronics, noise etc.
Some examples:
Noise: (This is one of my favourite records) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9ta0YwCWa0
Industrial/Power Electronics: (one of the few Industrial/PE bands I can take seriously. Most I just think are sort of retarded and I just enjoy for the sound alone) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjGDnX4VZBA

Industrial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cxVBYpMZyc
More 'pure' PE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4Ob-2RXe9I
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88zp3O8_ahU (Sutcliffe Jügend is an example of PE I think is "retarded" - I get the "point" but I just can't help but think "Right right, I got the message after the first 'song,' no need for X amount of tracks about it but I still just enjoy it on an aesthetic level and purely for it's sound.
Those are some of the most extreme examples but even with other genres such as metal I only really like black metal which is most of the time lo-fi, distorted and with dissonance.
Or punk, I prefer hardcore which is most of the time just very abrasive and "raw" in it's sound.
So, what's the point of the thread?
Hmm, well A: I guess to share this kind of music and
B: Because I'm curious why do I like this kind of music because it is abrasive and it is noisy.
