I laughed so much at this. I sympathise. I think its all to do with evolutionary biology. In short women in groups are either extremely nasty (dare I say evil) or extremely silly or in most cases both. This is because women's survival in the tribe depended on them being accepted into the group. Women's brains are wired for social conformity. However, get them out of the group and you may find that the species reconnects with its brain. One on one they change their behaviour. You may actually find signs of intelligent life. I was lucky, I found a group of women who were wacky and non-conformist. They did talk about shoes but they also talked about other stuff - especially one to one. And I learned a lot from them. I did things with them I never would have done. For example, 15 years after meeting one of them I am now going out to Rio to address a conference on leadership. My friend is mad - for one thing she is addicted to shopping, and I mean addicted. but she's also intelligent. Give them a chance - some of them are truly parts of the intelligent human race but are significantly disadvantaged by their social wiring. Find one or two weirdos and you're in for a good time!

Someone once said "never underestimate the stupidity of people in a crowd." I think this applies here

What is your name?

My name is Freddie.

Where are you from?

I am from The Netherlands.

How old are you?

I am 22.

What's your gender?

Male.

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

I observed my own thoughts and ways i handle things, and observed how other people handled situations.
Not being the social one was rubbed in my face from day to day, i didn't really care and thought people should just accept me the way i go through life.
However i think it did make me think about it a little more, so i went surfing on the web reading about psychology and taking some BBC tests.
The results were all clear and i went on with life knowing my "handicaps" as other people refer to it are nothing more then personality traits other people cannot comprehend because they don't possess them.

But i was still wondering how other people alike handle social situations for their own benefits so i went searching again with the search string: i am proud of being nonsocial!
I strayed on a topic about someone wondering why people are so bluntly stuck up with people not being as social as they would like and someone replied she should take a MBTI test provided with a link.
I took the test and got INTP as a result.

How did you find out about this forum?

When i finished the INTP test there was a link to this forum at the bottom of the description about the architect, i clicked on it and ended up registering after reading allot of interesting topics.

Do you have a partner/lover?

Nope.

Do you have any kids?

Nope.

Do you have any pets?

Nope.

Hobbies??

I like playing the guitar and composing music, drawing and designing, philosophical discussions discussions and i enjoy learning stuff that is abstract when looking at a portion of it (if that makes sense)

Waterstiller

Where are you from?

Riverside, California

How old are you?
23

What's your gender/sex?
Male to Female transsexual with a pangender gender identity. I'm also a pansexual bottom, to be more specific. :p

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?
A professor in community college made us take crude personality test. Later, I became more interested when a friend/crush of mine mentioned she was INTP.

How did you find out about this forum?
I've been somewhat stuck in my transsexual transition and in an effort to help nudge it along I need a better grasp of my personality type. I think it operates at an even more foundational level in many ways than my gender identity. I found these forums via the link on http://typelogic.com/intp.html

Do you have a partner/lover?
Not presently, but I wouldn't mind. This is a big part of why I'm here; to figure out what personality type I'm most interested in and which I'm most compatible with.

Which hobbies absorb you the most?
Reading, playing instruments, transsexual transition, people watching (whether it's TV or real life)

How do you generate an income?
I graduated with a BA in philosophy a couple months ago. I'm in the middle of multiple transitions in my life.. so.. no income at the moment.

Think of the interesting things Waterstiller could tell us. Imagine, if you experienced life as both a male and a female, complete with the different hormonal brews in your veins, you could really understand the differences between the genders.

That's priceless.

Ha! Going from male hormone levels to female levels is indeed a wonderful trip and has provided me much insight into 'gender'. To be completely honest, I never really understood guys or their motivation. I just looked like one and received the socialization. :phear:

In many ways it was just as bad as an alternative socialization involving barbies, glitter, and intense objectification.

It's hard for me to understand why an INTP would have a problem with transphobia/cissexism. I'm not offended by anyone's opinions, but it's sad that rational and perceptive people still have these feelings of disgust which are rooted in ignorance. To me it means a lack of education in a myriad of subjects. For an otherwise rational mind I might suggest doing some reading on intersex conditions to help you break from the idea of binary sexes. Then move on to sexual orientation and how biological sex doesn't dictate it. Above all else, realize that transgender (and homosexual) individuals are people just like you and that nobody would choose such stigmatization. (read: quit bullying people who are harmlessly being and expressing themselves)

I am currently 18.

What's your gender?

I took a personality test I came across while viewing my friends facebook profile. I did not expect much accuracy, but was shocked at how well I related to the INTP profile.

The google search for INTP forum took only 0.13 seconds, and yielded about 724,000 results. This one seemed alright.

I have a lover. She is not INTP. I find she is able to bring me "down" from my norm of thoughts to relax and enjoy life instead of trying to comprehend it.

Do you have any kids?

No.

Not a stereotypical INTP, I've had a lot of personal dev to pursue in my life, have a spiritual side, a good sense of abstract aesthetics, and was in a life situation where I had to learn how to Fe well or die. I also have an extremely high Ni that I've had to rely on to make significant life changes.

Got Here How:
From someone on a non-MBTI-related site, ironically. [Actually, now that I am looking around here, it was Waterstiller -- ha ha, I see you, avatars always find a way!]

Ever had Bacon AND Chicken on a pizza?
Your taste buds will explode and be joyous

Jah, I was just sticking with "single" toppings...

... but I have had this awesome "Ranch" pizza that one place makes around here, with basically bacon, garlic/onions, herbs, tender chicken pieces, and some sort of creamy ranch instead of tomato sauce... and the dough was crisp on the outside and fluffy/chewy on the inside -- absolutely delightful. :D

I need to get my copy of the original Earthsea trilogy of my shelf. It comes in it's most convenient little box :)

There's a favorite books thread here and I didn't think to add Earthsea to my long list but I should have since it was after reading it that I became the voracious reader I am today.

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?
I have always been interested in psychology and various typologies. This one probably seems the most ineresting to me. I got the result INTP from the test on mypersonality.info, and I have also read a book about this typology.

How did you find out about this forum?
Google found it for me when I was searching for more INTP related stuff. Since June I've been also a member on INTPcentral (name Luz_Melian), but it seems to me that I'm going to like this one better. I like its general atmosphere better. Maybe it's because it's newer and smaller. I like smaller forums better cause on bigger ones it's difficult to get to known people and be known by them.

Do you have a partner/lover?
Yes.

Do you have any kids?
No.

Do you have any pets?
No.

Which hobbies absorb you the most?
My university (not a hobby but it definitely is the most time consuming!), music (Spanish rock, gothic rock, symphonic metal, gothic metal), reading, sitting on the internet, computer RPGs, learning Spanish.

Hardest thing(s) about being INTP?
Being lost in my own mind and out of touch with reality. Problems with other people because of me being oblivious and disorganized. Having to encounter so many dumb/shallow people so frequently; apparently they are the majority of world population. Difficulties in interaction with other people due to my introversion, detachment and often also shyness.

Saw an INTJ forum and looked for an INTP one. Whatdaya know......

Do you have a partner/lover?
Yes. INFJ. We have endured marriage for a few revolutions around the sun.

Do you have any kids?
1 male tax deduction named Xelif. Obviously another anagram. Person I am closest to by far. He's 20 months old.

Do you have any pets?
No. Did have a Russian Blue Cat named Jones, and a black domestic shorthair named F.A. Yes, that is two expletives for a name. He lived up to that name well. His real name was Sebastian.

Which hobbies absorb you the most?
I have so many, but I absorb Computer Science the best. Easily. I absorb anything that catches my fancy though. READ: Interested in. Quite easily.

Hardest thing(s) about being INTP?
Dealing with people that challenge my way of life. Learning why people do what they do when it's so illogical to me. Empathizing with people. Dealing with the depression that we often exibit.

How do you generate an income?
I am a Network Security Administrator. I break stuff and get paid for it. :D

What possession do you charish most?
I dont think it's pretentious for an INTP to value an object over a relationship, and mine is my computers. Take them from me at your own peril.

Does the internet bring let you bring out your extaversion?
I'd have to say yes in my case. I'd rather talk to people online than people in person anyday. I dont have to maintain any of those relationships and can turn them off at a moments notice if I have to. Wish I could do that in real life.

Who wants to know?
I think I've guessed your son's name correctly, but unless your name ends with Dyln, I haven't the faintest idea what yours is. Welcome, by the way. :1
