It's a pen with the functionality to print fast-drying plastic that can be used to draw 3D objects in the air. Could draw so many awesome things with this! I imagine utilizing other materials like glass, artistic papers or cloth to create things like collages, lamp shades or custom costumes..

*excited* =D

I got 1min into the 3min video and I couldn't take it anymore.

Marketing bullshit aside how is this better than any other 3D pen?

*reads* It's just smaller, it took an entire page to say that!?!

Something that I thought of while reading about it was size and weight have a lot to do with maneuverability.. and it's a big deal for those of us with smallish hands :phear:

I don't disagree that smaller is better but there's only so much generic marketing bullshit I can listen to before I want to punch the speaker in the face.

Maybe you're not intelligent enough to have been offended by it so let me use an example, say someone goes up to you with a rubber ball, cooing, waving the ball in the face, calling you a good boy/girl and then they throw the ball into a store they want you to go into, how would you feel about that?

It's probably a great 3D pen but I'll never know because I don't make a habit of giving money to people who treat me like an idiot, but hey y'know that's just me, just my personal subjective perspective, maybe it didn't insult your intelligence in which case by all means go ahead and buy one I'm sure you'll be very satisfied with your purchase.

lol, yeah the marketing was pretty basic, didn't watch the whole video myself.. I guess I'm just not offended by advertisements because I don't take them personally. They don't generally pull on my emotions, nor do they impress me most of the time. I studied advertising as part of my degree at university, so I see it in a very technical way. If I critique the job they've done with their campaign, I might give it a C-. It doesn't seem to be targeted at a very complex audience. I'm excited about the product because of what I read about it, not how it's advertised.

This is useless toy.
Now I wouldn't say that, in fact I'd like to see one of these on a robot that for example goes around sealing holes in ducting, closing big holes with a spider web like lattice that it fills in to make a solid panel.

WHAT.. 0:
Guys, the latter half of the video is where all the amazing stuff is!
Like from 1:52+ and especially at 2:43ish

It's not like anything I've seen before.. 0_0
This is going to be a big-selling product. I wouldn't dismiss it so readily. In 4 days it's raised $430,000 ...that's fourteen times their estimated goal. The last time I saw a campaign do this well was the Oculus Rift, and we know that's already gone huge and going bigger.

Whether the general concept of this pen has been around in some form or another in the past isn't too relevant (same with Oculus, VR was tried before and failed) it's about getting it *spot on'* so that a seamless, user-friendly, sleek product is delivered.

Their vid was decently-done from the studio's side of things, but the developers aren't good at acting. ^^ Or (english) public speaking.
