    Ni bashing?

I agree my first post was motivated in part by venting. I disagree that I have continued to be moved by the same motivation. By making this accusation, you are just repeating the same mistake the Ni-doms I talked about made. I reframed my OP by asking several questions in one post above (#32)...

    Ni bashing?

I made those threads a couple of days ago. I've also reacted calmly and rationally to all the posts in these threads, even when they've attacked my person. So I disagree with you.
  3. ae1905

    Ni bashing?

Yes, I agree with you. Exposure to stress is normal and under normal stress you'd expect people to act normally and try to reduce the stress by using their dominant-auxiliary functions.

    Ni bashing?

Then why are you posting in this thread? Again, the context of my comments was perfectly clear on a close reading. Anyone can confirm this for himself. More personal attacks.

    Ni bashing?

Ever heard the expression, brevity is the soul of wit? Quantity is not quality, especially when it rambles. Aim for the latter next time--it will serve you better. My take on Ni from another thread in this subforum, posted before this thread was created...

    Ni bashing?

The idea was suggested by an ENFP who has had a lot of experience with INFJs. But the critical parent is another possibility, only if Ti comes out in INTJs under stress then why is it so irrational? Shouldn't it rather be logical? In any case, socionics is not a theory that has much if any...

    Ni bashing?

Yes, an individual will be less predictable than groups, but he will likely still display many traits of his type. And this probability increases with the number of individuals. So a dozen INTJs will very likely exhibit Ni traits, particularly under circumstances that bring them out, like...

    Ni bashing?

In both the second and third cases, the other parties gave as good as they got (or tried)--their writings are filled with what can only be called typist opinions--yet they didn't receive penalties, did they? It's a principle. If you are going to apply rules, then apply them fairly. It usually...

    Ni bashing?

I encourage both of you to read farther down the thread. Then, if you still feel the same way, feel free to post again. Thanks!

    Ni bashing?

It depends on where and how you do it. In my experience, Ni is used in this way when the Ni-user no longer has a valid argument to make and attacking me is seen as a last offense. But, obviously, Ni can be used in other contexts.
  11. ae1905

    Ni bashing?

    I haven't noticed a problem and wasn't referring to you. ;)
  12. ae1905

    Ni bashing?

I did. And it was a conscious decision. But my question remains: should I hold INTJs to a higher standard because of their MBTI reputation? Or should I treat them the same way as any other type? Should I call them out when they resort to underhanded Ni tactics and try to bring my supposed...
  13. ae1905

    Ni bashing?

Again, notice this poster doesn't refer to my counter to his original post but responds only to my very last "reading comprehension" line. These are the kinds of things the INTJs I have encountered online do when they have no real comeback. The post I quote here is another example of the "saving...
  14. ae1905

    Ni bashing?

The context is clearly given in the OP and in this thread. The fact you evaded any of the particular points I made shows you are conceding the point but trying to do so in such a way as to "save face". This is a very common maneuver, one I see many types use including INTJs. This is another...

    Ni bashing?

While I didn't mention it here I did mention it elsewhere that I regard the INTJs I've known irl to be highly intelligent. They include my friend who is a PhD, a colleague who did his MBA in MIT, a prof who did his PhD at MIT and is thought to hold the record for highest GPA at Princeton, and my...

    Ni bashing?

Yes and no. The ad hominem attacks refer to the particular INTJs with whom I've had that experience. As does the comment about their debating prowess, since I specifically said "their irrationality comes out soon enough", implying direct experience. The comment about "berating them" refers to a...

    Ni bashing?

Some of the time. Like I said, it's good sport and competition. It keeps the mind sharp. And INTJs are supposed to be as smart if not smarter than INTPs. Who else am I going to challenge? ESFJs? But most of the time, it happens by chance as you encounter INTJs in debate threads, for example...
  18. ae1905

    Ni bashing?

Really? Where did I say I've argued with "every" INTJ? Again, doesn't it go w/o saying that I'm talking about the INTJs I've known? Especially when I mention ad hominem attacks I've personally been on the receiving end of? So is your reading comprehension.
  19. ae1905

    Ni bashing?

If a thread asks for opinions on Ni or INXJs, then I offer an opinion. I can't say if it is always "empathic", but it is honest. And blunt. Especially with INTJs since they are NTs, I don't feel a need to sugar-coat anything. If an INXJ takes a debate down a dirt road then I point out they're...
  20. ae1905

    Ni bashing?

I exaggerated the matter a little here but it should be understood that I criticize Ni when the subject of Ni comes up and not by way of trolling. And when I do I do it respectfully, stating my opinions in a matter of fact manner. This is the main reason INTJs don't object, because they can...
  21. ae1905

    Ni bashing?

I've been told that I have a predilection for criticizing, or "bashing", Ni. In fact, I simply point out the weaknesses of introverted intuition and the same person who criticizes me has never contradicted my assessment, only chided me for making them. I actually don't refrain from telling...

INTPs and freedom to speak the truth

How much do you value the freedom and even the right to speak the truth, no matter how unpopular or controversial it may be? If, for example, you stated a fact on this site that was unpopular and, as a result, you were banned, what would you think? How would you react? What, do you think, are...

    Are INTJ's better?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEUznFgaTjI INTJs lead with Ni and use Te to rationalize their intuition. Because their Ni is often wrong, this means they are often illogical, a fact anyone who has argued with INTJs can readily confirm. It also means they are no more logical than ISTJs and only...

How Quickly Do You Get Bored?

How quickly do you move from interest to interest? How do you decide when to move? And do you get bored of friends and lovers? What bores you about them? And if you do bore easily, does this worry you at all?

It's possible for an INFJ to be more skilled in Ti than an INTP

You can also examine this question by comparing INTPs to ENTPs who have auxiliary Ti. Aux is more able than tert but is still less competent than dom. Yet, I'm sure we all know very smart ENTPs who can out-argue many INTPs. Richard Fenynman was an ENTP and a pretty bright one. Who doesn't think...

The Lazy INTP: Fact or Fiction?

I come across this stereotype of the "lazy INTP" all the time, and more often than not, it seems, it is pushed by INTPs themselves. Yet, in my experience, INTPs are not at all "lazy". My university classes were filled with NTs, including many INTPs, and most of them worked hard and did well. The...

It's possible for an INFJ to be more skilled in Ti than an INTP

I think people here who begin with MBTI are putting theory before facts. It is a patently obvious fact that there are INFJs who use Ti more skillfully than many INTPs. I cited Niels Bohr as one example. Jung, himself, if he was INFJ most assuredly used Ti more skillfully than many INTPs. He is...

It's possible for an INFJ to be more skilled in Ti than an INTP

Yes. And I've seen it. An INFJ guy who is very smart and logical, very good in debates, much better than many INTPs. Intelligence amplifies the functions and an intelligent INFJ will use Ti more adeptly than a stupid INTP. A good example of this is any genius INFJ, like Niels Bohr. You can't...

    worst personality type to be

The general rule is probably that the type that has the most trouble is the one that is most unlike the society he lives in. The US, for example, could be characterized as ESTJ in which case INFPs would feel most out of place. INTPs, otoh, should feel most alienated in a ESFJ society. ESFJ is...

    worst personality type to be

This survey was conducted by Keirsey? If we take it at face value, the things that stand out are that extroversion-introversion pretty much neatly divides the happy from the not-as-happy and that the Te-doms and Ti-doms, in particular, lie at opposite ends of the scale. So one key to happiness...

    INTP switching on INTJ mode

There are a couple of theories on this. Enneagram says 5s (a type INTPs typically are) go to 8 when they are healthy. Type 8s are typically ENTJs (and ESTPs). Another theory, socionics, says that we all have access to the shadow image of our first two functions and can use them competently...

    INTP / ESFJ relationships

Socionics uses a different lettering scheme and their four-letter MBTI equivalents are alternative labels devised, I suspect, to make socionics more readily recognizable to people already familiar with the established system. In MBTI, judging and perceiving are considered one of the four basic...

    INTP / ESFJ relationships

This is a MBTI subforum so when you write "INTP" it means socionics LII, not ILI or the MBTI INTJ. To avoid this confusion, socionics even designates ILI as INTp, not INTP. As usual, the INTJ is more than a little confused.
  34. ae1905

    INTP / ESFJ relationships

You may be confusing MBTI INTP with socionics INTp which is actually the MBTI INTJ whose dual is ESFP. MBTI INTP's dual is ESFJ. The thing you have to remember with duals and MBTI in general is that the types and their relations are described in their healthy, high-functioning states. In real...

Why INTPs & INFPs Should Confer with INFJs or INTJs

Ni doesn't assemble all subconscious impressions into one picture, not in the sense a scientific theory comprehensively explains a large set of phenomena. Ni simply spits out isolated insights into specific situations and in a random manner. To build anything like a theory, an Ni user would...

    INTP / ESFJ relationships

SJs are relatively stable and therefore good for marriage and children. If you don't want kids or marriage, then they are generally not the best choices for INTPs. Other N-types offer more stimulation, and better companionship and compatibility.
  37. ae1905

    INTP / ESFJ relationships

Do these principles arise from your shared functions or from other sources, like family, education, religion, etc? You both share the same perceiving functions, both working at about the same strengths (aux and tert). Do you think this is a source of strength in the relationship? Does it help...

    P-dom bahaviour

Re: P-dom behavior P can get stuck when it remains in perceiving mode and never shifts into J mode to get things done. So INTJs may spend too much time planning, say, to take over the world and not enough time doing it. This is certainly a complaint ENTJs level at their intoverted cousins. Or...

    Original thoughts

Are there any great thinkers who never read a book or studied in their field? If you think of knowledge as an edifice, then reading great books is like walking up the steps, each book taking you higher and closer to the top. Once there, however, it is up to you to build on what they erected...
