Anyway, it's the album Memorial by Russian Circles. I like it on 2x. Probably my fav of their albums but I haven't looked all the way through their catalogue. I find it useful for mood regulation when sped up because it's got a somber tone but with the extra speed it gives a sense of progression and purpose?

Yeah pretty normal. I like fast music because I have a psychological need for energy/progression/purpose. This would limit what I listen to fairly drastically, so I'd prefer to dishonour the intention of the artist than ignore the existence of their music completely. Most reasonably fast music is 1.25, but slower music is 2x. Some music (like reggae) is beyond salvaging though. There are very few songs I prefer at the intended speed.

I also watch everything on 2x if possible unless it's conceptually very dense. Student habit mixed with attentional difficulties. I think speeding up viewing is relatively common but the music thing less so? Not my fault musicians are so lazy.

I'm really enjoying these with the videos. While the joke a second format isn't my jam, the juggling of pop, metal, and playing around is a really good time for me. I ordinarily enjoy genre bending, but I think specifically with pop/metal there's always an element of non-seriousness. By implicitly being non-serious, it allows me to turn off my brain a bit and enjoy the pop elements too, when ordinarily there's something emotionally jarring about authentic pop music (a lot of music actually including metal, but with pop it's particularly pronounced).
