Jung on typology
Interesting comment. I don't put much weight on this though, he may have been deflecting criticism that he was trying to reduce people to four letters. Also he's not entitled to judge the importance of his work to later generations. For me personally typology has been an extremely useful and interesting subject.
My whole scheme of typology is merely a sort of orientation ... namely, there is such a factor, as introversion, there is such a factor as extroversion, the classification of individuals means nothing, nothing at all. This is merely the <instrumentation> for the psychologies, to explain for instance to a husband from a wife ...
