Department (WWGD) partnering with the Wyoming Migration Initiative (WMI) have released the first of 5 planned batches of 90 Antilopine Kangaroos into the Wyoming outdoors.
Dubbed “Project Sage Hopper” by the WWGD team responsible for evaluating the viability of Wyoming’s habitat for Australian marsupials, it has been in the planning stages for 3 years. The goal is two-fold: Create new and interesting wildlife viewing opportunities for tourists, and in several years, potentially provide additional hunting opportunities

I'm just worried Wyoming will get too cold for them in the winter.

Yeah that's a pretty significant drop in temperature compared to their normal climate. Also a lot more snow - I wonder how they'd endure long snowy winters as well.

It gets cold but not consistently as cold as it gets in Wyoming.

I'm not sure if it would be bad for Wyoming ecology, but I don't know enough about it. Intuitively it seems okay, since there's enough water sources that they won't congregate in concentrated areas, but I wonder what winter is like, and if a lot of it freezes over then it's going to cause problems.

My general sentiment is that this is pretty stupid overall.

Delicious pest. With 40 million of these tasty things hopping around, it's amazing that beef, lamb and pork dominate the meat industry.

Side note: Kangaroo Bourgignon is incredible.

Actually I am in favor of roo's in America though. Gets rid of a pest a bit more. Also I agree with Happy, if I lived in a rural area I would probably get a gun licence to hunt them.

It's almost twice the price of beef or pork though isn't it? At least where I've been. Probably because kangaroo farms aren't seen in a good light and hunting is more costly/rare comparatively.

Try Coles near the barracks, between Upper Roma and Caxton St, it was like $10 for two packs when I lived near there.

I'd say closer to rabbit (albeit milder) or venison in taste, but with texture closer to that of beef or mutton. Very little fat content.
