Hey there. I'm Reid. I'm an INTP? INTJ? I think I'm an INTP but others have typed me as INTJ, so, that's a possibility. I talk either a lot or not much, so. warnings. I'm a pre-doctorate forensics researcher, just turned 25. Autistic and schizophrenic, knowledgeable on everything except for things that actually matter.
Add me on Skype, @grimiorearchimedes, and yeah! I like post-punk music, astrophysics, books of any sorts, and photography in my spare time. I suppose that is my introduction, pleasure to meet all of you?

Don't know much of what there is to say, in all honesty. What questions do you have, I suppose that will help me talk about it. vv;

Does it bother you? what symptoms do you have? how hard is it to differentiate reality from illusion?
I imagine using something like schizophrenia to enhance my imagination, is that a thing?

it bothers me definitely. It's made me very doubtful of my supposed reality. There are more symptoms than just hallucinations, and those are the ones that bother me the most. You do not want schizophrenia just to enhance your imagination. it can be quite scary, and paranoia-inducing. I don't have paranoid schizophrenia myself, but disorganized schizophrenia, and I am on the low end of the spectrum, but it is still not a good experience sometimes. I will not say it is all bad, but, it isn't a thing I would wish upon another being.

When you say it makes you doubt your reality does that apply to the outside world(things that happen in it) or your own ideas and thoughts as well?

I will be honest paranoia inducing doesn't scare me much if it only affects my perception of the world since I live in my head most of the time anyway(in fact it sounds exciting).

What I am trying to ask does it affect what facts about the world you believe are real or something more?

Paranoia also affects your own sense of self and thoughts. It affects your whole being. Since it takes place within the brain, it affects your own self first.

That would be utterly annoying to deal with, sounds scary.

So, uh, yeah. That's my introduction. If anyone has anything else to say, that would be cool, if not, that is cool too.

What books do you like? I am an avid sci-fi/fantasy/supernatural reader though I mostly read fanfiction/free fiction online nowadays(real books feel too static and uniform).

I mostly read poetry, post-modernist stuff. Murakami, Delilo, Zadie Smith are what's on my bookshelf currently.

Hi, welcome. What methodologies were you induced (or forced upon) to treat your state, if you're even treating it? (CBT, group therapy, drugs, hospitilization or a combination, etc) Are you relatively stable?

What's your opinion on Dexter, the tv series?

welcome

Well, I see what I know as mattering. I suppose what I mean is that the things I know are likely to get me nowhere.

combination of all of the above. Pretty stable right now, on a good combo of antipsychotics, benzos, group therapy and one-on-one. Benzos were an addiction I'm actually trying to fight.

And as a forensic student, how could I not like Dexter?

Well, Thank you! May I ask, do you all have a place to help with typing? A questionnaire or any of that sort?

Welcome to the land of useless information. We are a proud, but underpaid people.

And I'm sure we have at least a few dozen MBTI tests in the "online test" section.

Hi.

People. I'm a people watcher. They interest me,
Hmm.. My current favorite is black tape for a blue girl, though I can also give you my entry list if you prefer.

Strange and direct, but can you conceive what it would be like for an external force to truly break you?

*EDIT: Just saw this in the chatbox:
People seemed to like to focus on my schizophrenia. I knew it was a bad idea putting that in there.
No pressure, mang.

What's the nature of your research? As specific and explanatory as possible, of course. :D

Hmm.. An external force to break me? Perhaps I feel like that's already happened, not going to lie.

Oh, oh my... Thank,,, you? Thank you!
Most of my research deals with the homicidal triad, and the accuracy of that, though I also delve into research for medications to help AsPD, and my next research project will be about age-based genetic links for schizospectrum disorders.

What about another one, in your present state? Something dramatically worse than anything experienced previously? One that might cause you to literally lose all interest in life for lack of enjoyment... Basically I'm assuming you're extremely self-directed, living not only for things you enjoy, but the thing. What if that was taken away? How likely would you be to find yourself a victim/perp?

Triad characteristics + early-onset ADHD, traits of conduct disorders, etc seem to overlap pretty well with Dabrowski's overexcitability, but are maladaptive.

Ah, you're one of the good ones. Check out this stuff. :ahh:

Can you get more specific on the schizospectrum stuff? Basically I meet criteria for StPD with some bipolar features (once diagnosed schizoaffective) and complex PTSD (and... 2/3 of the triad). One aspect of my own etiology seems to be stress-related degeneration of empathy that I've only recently seemed to begin to recover.

*Imagines a sociopath loaded up on oxytocin* :D

You are very correct in that assumption. I, I would like to think that I would be able to spread my focus to something else, but I am not sure how likely that is. It's honestly a fear of mine that I will lose the control I have worked so hard to gain. And I feel like I could go either way, victim or perpetrator. I have occasionally seen myself in the submissive role of a two-person killer group during my studies. My empathy is existent, but odd, so I would be a very remorseful killer. I'm the guy that can't handle seeing anyone in harm, so... I don't know. Perhaps during a psychotic break. Victim seems the most likely, it is a possibility I think of often.

I've reached a state in life where none of my friends have died of natural causes, and I cannot see myself going that way either.

Glad I'm not alone.

What warning signs would you (you specifically) put out that an outside observer could use to determine if you were headed toward either outcome?
