Hey, guys! I'm super anti-social and hate introductions, but I thought I should post one anyway because this seems like a neat forum and I may stick around for a bit.

I'm 25, a teacher, and live on the west coast. I come from a nice, hard-working, extroverted, Evangelical family, and I've always been a pain in their ass. I could read newspapers before I started kindergarten and always had this annoying habit of asking way too many questions. My mom swears that even as a baby I would glare at anybody who tried to baby talk me and looked at them like they were completely stupid. I learned about MBTI in grad school. We all had to find out our type. I was the only INTP in our program.

Anyhow, I like literature, history, philosophy, science, and whatever else catches my fancy on any particular day. I live in a mid-size town right now and people here are way too friendly and not nearly interesting enough. I'm hoping to get a new job and move this summer. I grew up here and I've been back since September. I'm something of an urban nomad. I love finding new places to explore on my own.

I stumbled upon this forum a few days ago. It seems like some cool conversations go on around here. I'm hoping I can join in. Nice to meet you all :)

You're a teacher? Hopefully you teach the latter years of high school; teaching earlier years of school is hell for most INTPs.

I'm glad to see someone resisting the omnipresent ENTJ pressure. You won't find any of that here. Welcome to the forums.

If you're anti-social, then why are you a teacher? And how can someone be "too friendly," either; wouldn't being less friendly equate to being more unpleasant? Perhaps you mean that they relentlessly pry at you or participate in the exchange of inane drivel as their entertainment?

Maybe anti-social was the wrong word. More like socially inept. Actually, I teach the upper elementary grades. I love kids once they hit about 3rd or 4th grade. I need lots of alone time to unwind after school and on the weekends. My job exhausts me, but I like it. Kids in the late elementary years are goofy. They're old enough to have some personality, but they haven't been alive long enough to have given in to the pressure to conform yet. They're weird and interesting and fun at this age.

And yes, endless prying and inane drivel is a better description than "friendly." I think I was in a weird funky mood when I typed this before. I'm not a terrible person :)

Welcome to the forum, newcomer.

Welcome to the forum :)

Watch out for the trolls

You've inspired me to write this:

High ho, high ho, the trolls abound herein.
But beneath the Forum Banner,
You'll be safe among your kin.

O High ho, high ho, the trolls do march again.
So let fly the Forum Banner
And by horse the message send:

That by sword, by shield, we'll slay the trolls herein.
For we fly the Forum Banner,
When there's trolling on the wind.

Oh high ho, high ho, we'll crush the trolls herein!
For it's ours, the Forum Banner, and there's battle on the wind!
