I chose to go by the name of TheHypeO on this website.

I am just looking to tickle fellow INTPokemon's fancies, and expect mine to be tickled in return. Basically, I'm just in an environment that seems to be filled with different copies of "me", with different mindsets and backgrounds.

If you have a question, ask away~ I'm quite busy at times, so do expect some slow replies ;_; Besides that, I hope my sojourn here will be smooth.

Edit: Windows NT Kernel followed me all the way through Windows 8 apparently. I do not use a prehistorical PC, just letting people know >.>

Why are you into Pokemon, the games are a poor mans RPG, simple and without challenge, they should bore an INTP quite quickly.

I did play emerald and I somehow participated in beauty contests while my pokemon looked at me with disdain. I wouldn't play more though.

There was a really good CYOA written by like 6 plus people on the ultimate-guitar forum a few years ago. I remember loving that. And it was so long.

They can actually get somewhat complex if one decides to delve into the world of effort value training your Pokes, and coming up with effective teams. The four move limit is actually semi thought provoking. Plus with natures and abilities that makes the possibilities slightly more endless. Although, I haven't yet seen the depth of the newer generation's (X&Y) post game & training/team building mechanics...

1) The concept is just fun. I mostly looked at the manga, + some of the anime. Cute creatures that you groom for ravage... I find that to be oddly appealing.
2) The high-level aspect of it is sophisticated to some extent. I don't play the games (lack of DS), but I do watch tournaments from time to time.
3) Like someone in this thread said, they stimulate my imagination.

Animes/Manga: Bleach, One Piece, Naruto, Death Note, Princess Resurrection, probably a few others. I'm more into reading the mangas than watching the anime though. Code Geass, though...

Yes but what's the point of min-maxing just for the sake of it? I mean what do you do with your perfect team? Unless you attend the competitive scene is there really anything to do? :O

Sorry if I'm getting to demeaning here. To put things in perspective I consider Skyrim an even more pointless game if you looks at its mechanics, and people still love that crap. Somehow they don't mind that the combat is awful and completely void of challenge and skill, the crafting system an abomination and insult to all rpgs; and most quests are just fillers which have you run down into repetitive dungeon killing stuff til you get what you needed. Heck even the guild quests suck, the war is poorly illustrated and the dragon fights get tiring quick.

The Pokemon games are superior in every respect except music and gfx, which can't really be compared anyway since the games run on different systems.

Btw have you played Xcom: enemy within? I think it has some similarities to Pokemon, but maybe I'm wrong.

I see the point in min maxing in any RPG, simply after you achieve the role you wanted to play, I always tend to make my character or team the best possible. Powergaming is a metagame to the actual challenge of the game, I enjoyed playing Disgaea which is comparable in the concept of tiers and powers.
If the game allows you and is worth putting your effort then min maxing is very rewarding.

Skyrim brings some casual and some shameful elements to the Elder Scrolls series, it is a bit better compared to oblivion and at the same time fails to accomplish what morrowind offered.

I disagree, there are many good musical compositions in the pokemon series. I don't want to say Jeremy Soule didn't do a great job with TES, he is enjoyable too.
