Does effort matters?

i have a friend who is a hard worker, but in an annoyingly lazy way. He'll knowingly throw large amounts of hard work into a project without planning, as if he's just trying to conjure up a solution with effort alone. He gets very frustrated when someone points out his lack of planning and will retort that he doesn't care if he is going in circles, so long as he's working hard, it's satisfactory.
if i had to guess, i would say that this mentality was caused by his parents rewarding a good work ethic, without emphasis on the results.

Lack of planning ahead...what type do you think that is. SeFi? Living in the current? Not much Ti there, I think. I do a lot of planning ahead but then don't follow through with writing it down. I never need to actually write it down if I plan it because I spend a so much time thinking about all the pieces and outcomes, possiblities of it that I could't forget my plan if I tried.

Writing it down seems an INTJ thing... The real problem is when someone else plans it, follow their way! Hah! I would rather invent a better way to do it.

Then I just need to figure out how to actually get the motivation to do it...imagine the consequences if I didn't...5 min of thinking again....Well guess I should hop too it....Actually I just thought of another way to do it!....no no no that will not work but I wonder what the manager would say if I did that! lol or inside.... Did another 5 min just pass again without me noticing!?... I wonder what the manger would say about me wasting 10 min staring at nothing??.... [I spends another hour talking in head for the manager and himself debating different topics and then finally...] ...looking up a whole hour! Guess I'll have to find a new job again....Think of the possibilities!.........I wonder what that job will be like.....(END OF DAY and I did nothing but hey I planned!)
