They are a Swedish ambient music duo. Just wondering if anyone here has heard of them and whether or not they like them.

My favourite track of theirs would have to be either Abiogenesis or Photosynthesis.

They think of the most unusual titles

Does anyone here know of any similar music.

Yeap, I have had some of their stuff. It's a bit too eerie and frightening for my taste. More of a Nightmares On Wax, Jose Padilla, and other light stuff sort of guy when it comes to ambient music. I don't listen to it much anymore. Maybe overtime I will return.

i reckon their first album is the best. it's called "the path" and was released in 1998, apparently under another band name "notch". it was re-released for free on their web site a couple of years ago.

i saw them play in i think 2010. very bland. not a live act. but they have good tracks.

Funny, I was thinking of asking the same question.

I love CBL. Good suggestion on their album "The Path" - that intro is something I can listen to over and over again.

My favorites are somewhere between Interloper (for Euphotic), and TwentyThree (for just about everything). Also, Endos...

Wait a second, I just realized I love all of their albums.

Solar Fields is another great ambient artist if someone has worn out all their CBL MP3's.

Also, Robert Rich, specifically Somnium.

I like their early stuff.

Also: Geir Jensen aka Biosphere (very 'out there'...more about concepts); Shulman (consistent high quality); Echaskech; Jon Hopkins (listener friendly but intelligent music nevertheless -- rarely happens these days).

Biosphere:

Gonna look into Robert Rich now...

Shulman is neat, altho I often find their songs are just a tad too slow-paced for my liking? :x (Too little sounds / effects / change / stimulae, I don't know.)

I have not heard Carbon Based Lifeforms (apart from a few various tracks here and there), although I have seen the name around quite a lot and intend to listen to them sometime.

But on the note of similar music (but mostly just a reason to post more drone and ambient tracks), here are some artists / tracks:

Biosphere - Kobresia:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKiuEHV6HWo

Robert Rich - Trances / Drones [album] (particularly Sunyata and Seascape which are sandwiched in the middle)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewOG9cqOZuY

Nurse With Wound - Soliloquy for Lilith [album]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xJ-KdNSq_U

Pauline Oliveros / Stuart Dempster / Panaiotis - Lear
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0at5DrXpJj8

raison d'etre - The Hidden Hallows
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67QKCtYophc

Troum & All-Sides - Shutun
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2L-lA0xqzKo

Eliane Radigue - Kyema
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnbGirPTgF0

So most of this is probably too droning and inorganic (aka dark and lifeless) to really be considered similar to CBL (except for Biosphere). I just wanted to take the time to spam some drone. :smiley_emoticons_mr

Here are a few tracks which might be more your speed (mostly psybient and progressive psytrance):

My interest in this field of music is still burgeoning and so, like yourself, I don't have a lot of material.

By the way, I listened to Abiogenesis. It is indeed excellent.
