LOl; I had a pretty crazy school and (baby)career trajectory.
Retrospectively, it appears to me that I consistently need a break every 4 to 5 years because I get some kind of nervous breakdown. I've heard that INTPs were notorious for their drop out rates and tendecies. I get it every 4-5 years, I just need to drop out every now and then.( A need to change paradigms; ya know chameleon skills !!!)

In 12 years of schooling I dropped out 3 times( middle school, beginning of university, med school) but it could have been more.... and I plan on dropping out in 3 years and take 2 years off. One thing is that every time I drop out, I come back way stronger than before!

My plan for the next drop out(I'll be 30 by then) : I would have saved enough money to be able to live 2 years THE GOOD LIFE(100k in two years seems good) while I'm young.(2 years: travelling, social experiencing, learning-learning-learning-reading-reading- writing- theorizing...Etc; starting a business; doing art; finding a fine lady;..Etc). I feel like these are things I can't compromise for; These are important things to do while I'm young. Later would be too late.( or not?)

WHat about you, do you love to occasionally drop out; take some years off ? And is that specific to INTPs or what?

Yep. I drop out of something every other year.
Always think the grass is greener me.
(Although it rarely is)

I drop out but I always come back to my initial choice(the result is that I go slowlier than other people in that same path, but I've got something more(or less?), don't know what it is exactly..)... how do you call that? Semi drop-out? Or more like a round trip?

I feel like dropping out is a way of preserving my psyche by differentiating myself from the ?group? ?sheep?... less baggage? dunno...

Dropped out from university twice during the freshman year. In high school I think I was present in no more than about 50% of the classes.

In general, the worst shit I can imagine is when I have to be at places at regular intervals at preset times. I survived by going against schedules as much as possible (in university I think I saw less than 5% of all the lectures).

By some stupendous luck I got a job in a startup after graduating, where I can arrive at the office at any time of day.

Yea, I can relate to the whole of what you posted.
I always end up back at square one but with crap shoved in the middle. I'm always swinging between 'none of this shit matters' and 'all of this shit matters'.

As long as I'm not the only one, I'll try not to beat myself up so much. Could be worse. I could have been an inbred hillbilly .
