I came back to looking at what the ACC does and found many new insights into brain function.

At a glimpse the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) is recognizing when some new goal has become more important creating a transition between the current task and the new task.

It also learns if the new task was actually less valuable than the first by calculating a loss or gain.

Under this impression I began to think that at any time we can switch between different important goals yet we often remain on our main tasks. So this could mean we must make up new goals rarely and when we do they must be seen as more valuable that what it is we have now.

This process is also happening in our spatial awareness with pattern recognition involved.

It also seems that emotional regulation depends on short vs long term decisions making. Delayed gratification, unless you were conditioned to always use your emotions to get what you want. Without emotion nothing much happens but too much and impulsivity occurs.

-

To tie in why I was thinking this way:

Some time ago (2009) I was in the top 1% for be stroop task. But since then I am only in the top 25% - I believe that under consistent stress it dropped otherwise it could have been higher.

Stress in its extreme is very bad for executive function. I spent years not knowing what to do.

Improving it would require some emotional processing and deconditioning from how I interact with my environment.

It's interesting to me how attention pattern recognition and task evaluation work together. I want to explore that further. When people cannot do something or can and are learning new things it be interesting to see how values get placed in a spatial context. I was good at this but I had problems interacting with people. So I atrophied.

You two know the most about this subject.

How does environmental conditions effect the ways we make values judgements given what we can perceive?

That is to say: what can people do when they try to do new things never done before?

I am not sure I know how learning happens but I know it has to do with perceptions and actions. Though at some point we need to decide a new direction we never did before.

You have to feel safe and totally accept your current situation as you are now first.
(not if you are actually in danger), but if a person is just not satisfied with their situation, first work on acting as though they CHOSE whatever, and get comfortable in your skin where you are. Make a relationship with the things around you and fill it up with good energy.
Then, you feel whats surrounding you as a self made choice and liking your choices, or actively working to make new choices and act on something, ie, clean the floor, move muscles, fill a calender with different expectations of yourself and look to it often to follow.

In other words, if you are not seeing that your mind is constantly creating what you draw to yourself, then alter it slightly and notice what small effects a little change makes in things around you. And, use journaling every day, ie, I tried 'this' for one week and it resulted in ' that'. Keep good notes. Aim to use short cuts to help yourself. Ie, Sundays plan out the week ahead, cook your meals, freeze them, so that the week ahead is just thawing out a meal in the morning and you make the whole week easier, just as an example, planning ahead gives you an edge of control, and if it worked well, then journal that in your notes. The evaluation would be, a measurement of what effect something had when you injected a plan and tried to follow through/control. Eventually, it will become a habit once you do it every day, every week, or every month.

I'm not as knowledgeable as you suggest.

Environment certainly has a big impact on values, as context changes so does our relationship with things in it.

We might change from a private setting to a public one. We can have different expectations put on us by close or distant people in our lives. Not sure if this is what you mean.

From what I gather most learning happens in your sleep, your brain deciding what memories to consolidate into long-term memory and such and such.

A fully mature brain only has so much neuroplasticity relative to someone who's growing, though apparently your emotional disposition to what you're learning does have a big impact on strengthening that learning.

This feels like a bot answer, but I'm not sure this is what you're looking for

I think that any form of judgement has mechanisms. I'm interested in those.

Not at all, I find those parts to be a curious.

That is a little more details would help me.

Are memories like Marko chains and if so how do memories incorporate into neuron fibers. By repetitive stimulus? Learning a procedure like long division might happen where retrieval and reincorporation needs explaining just the same. This could have something to do with placing higher or lower values but it could also just be algorithmic.

It could be that there's a specific mechanism for learning rules.

When they are learned we can also make up new rules.

If we are creating something new then the size of those rules determine how we can place them hierarchically in a system.

I don't know how you have systems thinking in the brain but I believe it's top down.

From some high perspective you see what needs to be done beforehand.

Resources are important, without them speculation goes nowhere.

Evaluation then would be seen as the cost to get resources. You may need to know the right rules.

Afterwards you can make what you want.
