Awesome I love this forum. Other forums would have called me an ass and removed the thread. :D Small wonders never cease.

When I read you post I couldn't help but speak with a pirate accent in my head...is that what you were going for?

It's more of an Irish thing.

I sometimes wonder if the great Flann O'Brien was an INTP.

Actually, Pirate brogue is basically Westcountry English, this shares superficial resemblance to some Irish accents; however, according to --- no doubt bogus assumptions --- the English upper classes sounded more like early 20th century westcountry folk ( Devon and Cornwall ) than like early 20th century RP ( Received Pronunciation.

Based on the fact that we cannot know the past --- and that accents change very rapidly; and that we have no idea how the Romans sounded speaking Latin: the only reasonable conclusion is that everyone found anyone raised more than 20 miles away unintelligible. And everyone sounded like a pirate.

I've noted a distinct lack of pirates on the snapvine.

The new purpose of this snapvine...pirates! That's right, pirates! Whose you favorite pirate?

Pirate joke of the day~
Long ago, when sailing ships ruled the waves, a captain and his crew were in danger of being boarded by a pirate ship. As the crew became frantic, the captain bellowed to his First Mate, "Bring me my red shirt!" The First Mate quickly retrieved the captain's red shirt, which the captain put on and led the crew to battle the pirate boarding party. Although some casualties occurred among the crew, the pirates were repelled. Later that day, the lookout screamed that there were two pirate vessels sending boarding parties. The crew cowered in fear, but the captain, calm as ever, bellowed, "Bring me my red shirt!" Once again the battle was on. However, the Captain and his crew repelled both boarding parties, though this time more casualties occurred. Weary from the battles, the men sat around on deck that night recounting the day's occurrences when an ensign looked to the Captain and asked, "Sir, why did you call for your red shirt before the battle?" The Captain, giving the ensign a look that only a captain can give, exhorted, "If I am wounded in battle, the red shirt does not show the wound and thus, you men will continue to fight unafraid." The men sat in silence marveling at the courage of such a man. As dawn came the next morning, the lookout screamed that there were pirate ships, 10 of them, all with boarding parties on their way.
The men became silent and looked to the Captain, their leader, for his usual command. The Captain, calm as ever, bellowed, "Bring me my brown pants!"

I always wanted to be a pirate as a child. My mother is a Gilbert and Sullivan freak. Considering the fact that few people I have met have even heard of them, and I have a lot of their works comited to memory, that makes me a freak as well. Anyway, I had Pirates of Penzance memorized when I was three (she has it on tape.. its scary) and I didn't even understand half of the words and just kinda muddled through some bits. Now I can perform the whole thing start to finish without accompaniment (my husband just loves road trips with me). I really wanted to be a Pirate King when I grew up and Frederick was my hero. I still wanna be a Pirate King, but oh well.

Definitely. Only an INTP could have created At Swim-Two-Birds.
