Don't know if this has been mentioned anywhere, but I find these video game reviews somewhat amusing. I don't know how to describe it, really, just see for yourselves.

One of the reasons why I like it so, is probably because we have very similar opinions and taste in games. So if he doesn't like it, I probably don't need to waste my time on it.

I consider Yahtzee to be a comedian first and a game reviewer second. When he really despises something, which he sometimes does, I take his opinion as a reviewer fairly seriously, but when he appears to somewhat dislike it or better I just watch for the comedy.

Yes, he is usually good for a laugh. I find that his video reviews are overly negative for humor's sake, but it works well.

For a more serious side, I find his articles called "Extra Punctuation" to be pretty insightful sometimes.

You just say that because he bashed Eve Online.

I consider his opinions on MMOs in general to be pretty much "completely missing the point". Also, Eve falls under his "really despises" umbrella, and I certainly didn't take it seriously :p

Yeah, I don't really understand why he reviews MMOs in the first place. Not only require they naturally more playtime than any other games but they're also constantly changing so it can be a completely different experience just a week after the review. Not to mention that it depends greatly on the people you're playing with. I really disliked his Borderlands review because he was completely missing the point there. It's meant to be played in coop. The single-player mode is just there to catch up with people when their level is higher or to finish some open quests. I played through it solo and in coop (with Firehazard) and I can say that it's a lot more fun with more people. The point is, if you're looking for a compelling single-player experience, you can read from the box that this is not the game you're looking for. And yet, he refused to review Starcraft 2 because he's not into RTS. So yeah.

I never play MMO, so I wouldn't know.

Yeah, his reviews aren't the most "objective" ones, so to speak.

There is a lot of negativity, but there are a lot flaws in games as well! If you go to a official game reviewer, he'll give Heavy Rain a 8 or 9. But it's a game not worth more than 5, maybe 6. So, being the picky gamer I am, I like his critical opinion.

Borderlands looks very interesting. But I don't like to play with others, so I suppose it's not worth getting then.

You know, Zero Punctuation's mother site, the Escapist, also has a forum, which is really fantastic. The religion/politics board, while totally dominated by atheists, also has current events with personal spins that are always worth reading. It also has sections for gaming. All-in-all, a top-notch forum responsible for my brief hiatus here.
