Hi everybody!

Just a newbie here intrigued by your question, which I thought might be fun to answer. Forgive me if my answer is somewhat lofty, but I've been working on perfecting an ongoing fantasy for a long time now!

As I've been planning to become ruler of the world, I decided a long time ago that the world would not know I was ruler, because that invites an awful lot of crackpots and stalkers, etc., so I decided to do the kind of work I've always wanted to do, and that is as a writer, director and producer of TV and films. That way, I could go whereever I wanted, do whatever I wanted, and change the world while pretending to be an affected, bored rich woman. This also happens due to powers which allow me to do anything and everything both possible, and fanciful.

As such a rich person, I would want several homes spread around, in this case on the west coast, the east coast, London, and my own private island.

The island would be somewhere in the Atlantic, about half way to the east coast of the US, and half way to the west coast of the British isles. However, the weather would be more like that of Hawaii.

The actual home on the island would be open straight through the middle, without doors on either side. The roof overhang would keep too most actual rain from coming in, but since the temperature would never be greater than 78 degrees, nor lower than 58 degrees, it won't be too humid and never cold enough to make it uncomfortable.

When you went the house through the main entrance, you will see an indoor swimming pool of about 60 feet long, and 25 feet wide. Right before the pool will be a staircase which leads up to the master bedroom suite. To the left as you enter, there will be an open kitchen, with a preparation island, and a table to eat at. The room right arond the corner will be the main living room, and a small office area. Beyond that and down the hall will be guest bedrooms and such. If you had gone straight through the house, you would be in the patio area, where grilling and outdoor activities would keep people entertained.

Beyond the dream house, the homes in New York City and London would be penthouses with generous rooms for parties and entertainment. The home in my hometown would be a more casual, though with enough grounds to keep myself and others working on a multitude of interests on a daily basis. In the west coast home, it would be mandatory to have a home either on the shore, or one with a generous view of the ocean.

Like I said, I've been working on this for a long time! I look at real estate sites all the time to see what's out there, and what I'd like to see in a home I found interesting. I found I tend to like contemporary design, and hate the country look. I don't mind some soft edges, but going frilly with gingham is out of the question!

Thanks for letting me have a little fun and share my fantasy world with you all.

The general trend here seems to be towards large open spaces. However, I prefer smallish spaces with lots of walls and doors, so that "in here" and "in there" is more clearly defined. However, I also might be agoraphobic, so keep that in mind.

A "glassy" house on a deserted island (Not too far away from the cities, though, so I could visit them from time to time. On a helicopter, maybe.), but with all the urban luxuries. Something like this:

When I settle down I'd like a small house in a small city, with a big garden where I'd grow some fruits & vegetables. For now I live in my ideal home, a small apt downtown.

My ideal house has the following

1) ~1500-2000 sq ft, single-story, with wide-open spaces
2) Super energy efficient
3) Covered in solar panels, with geothermal heating and cooling- entirely self-sufficient and green
4) No right angles in the entire interior or exterior of the home- everything is curved and organic
5) Fiber-optic internet connection
6) Feeling of seclusion and surrounded by redwood trees, yet within a short trip to a reasonable-sized town, for acquiring food, entertainment, and other resources
7) Large garden producing fresh fruits and vegetables in a greenhouse attached to the house
8) Complete workshop including a high-end 3D printer for my creative projects
9) Good-size kitchen with an island for making tasty food

This is similar to the sort of architecture that appeals to me:
