I've been constantly thinking about this idea for a band consisting of INTP's, as I've noticed people making music in all kinds of genre's all across the board.

So what would you ideal band sound like? What intruments would it compose of? What genre would it be? (be sure to include links as to how it would sound, because I'm also looking for new music at the moment)

*It's pretty late right now so hopefully this won't turn out to be a lame thread in the morning*

It would probably sound like post rock? Maybe...

Today I checked out someone I hadn't checked out before. His name is Alex Machacek. Check out his album "sic". Insane stuff.

I don't like the idea of limiting a band to a certain amount of instruments, I think if I was to suddenly able to write half decent music the core would likely be electric guitar, drums/ various percussion, electric bass and violin. But i'd like them to experiment/ sample other instruments in their songs.

It'd probably sound like a more rhymically focused Mahavishnu Orchestra- check out 'birds of fire' or 'meeting of the spirits' to hear what I mean. As drums & bass are always my favourite components, I play bass- I quite like sounding out chords on the bass similar to Les Claypool and Rocket Martin.

As for vocalist the more eccentric the better Les Claypool, Black Francis and Don Van Vliet are some of my favourite vocalists, I don't know if they have anything in common they're just strange and unique.

Damn that's hard. I would love to to have a band that plays the most brutal shit ever, the most FUCKING BRUTAL SHIT EVER. Sorry about that. Brutal stuff makes my blood boil.

But on the other side, I also like experimental, progressive, post rock, indie. My favorite bands of all time are experimental and progressive indie-ish. But I have a collection of nice and brutal deathcore bands.

I like complex a cunning sound patterns. I'll show you an example of my favorite band's sound. But this is just one example, they have many unique recordings which sound completely different. I really love their electronic but very organic and almost acoustic sound.
