For those of you who are currently browsing or contributing to the forum, why are you not at a Super Bowl party of some kind carousing with others?

Because I hate American football.
And sports in general.

I'm Norwegian. I doubt there is a Super Bowl party anywhere around here. Most Norwegians don't watch Super Bowl. Many Norwegians don't even know what American football is. One of my friends thought that the Super Bowl was a bowling tournament.

And: it's 0.40 AM, and I really should be sleeping.

I'm in Aus. I could watch the game but American Football is so slow. More boring than soccer.

I am watching Superbowl... but since I'm in Canada, I need something to entertain me during commercial breaks. So, that's what you guys are for tonight.

Why do you guys keep saying "American" football? It's redundant.

I don't support the conformist idolization of my fellow man
And they don't even know it.

I live in Australia. I don't even know exactly what Super Bowl is, except it is some American event involving too many people in the same place at the same time.

I have an earthenware bowl and intend to fill it with bread dough in a minute. By myself. Happily so.

Typical American. You know the internet is international right.
Yes, very typical. The few people who represent us are exactly like this dude.

Weirdly every American I have met and talked to are extremely nice and friendly and don't act as how I would picture a yank, but you guys just have this negative rep for some reason.

I don't like sports in general but most of them are tolerable for a time on tv. Footbal though, football is just dreadful. Why do they have to run around in massive suits of armor? It's far more entertaining if they actually get hurt. (and I don't mean those pansies who have to sit out because they twist an ankle). It is also very slow, and while many people find footbal strategy fascinating, it's really just one team running one way and an other running after them while half the guys just kind of fart around.
I'd frankly be much more excited watching a heated chess match.

As for the party thing, what would be the point of a party where all you do is sit and watch something you can't control and aren't interested in aside from free potato chips and beer?

Because I don't get the whole "thing" behind football. I mean if you play it, great, or if you're really into the strategy of it, awesome, but beyond that I think it's just another excuse for humans to take sides and start hating each other.

Only a diehard fan of the Packers would say that!

My parents never had those. I didn't even know that people had superbowl parties until I was in college. I just don't care.

You should watch Australian Football (called "rugby" if you want to be technical) it's almost exactly like US football (remember "America” is a continent, not a country) except, y'know, it’s not for pussies.

"State of Origin" is a three part match between Queensland and New South Wales, in which the two states basically declare literal “civil” war, then each send a team of freakishly large/muscular men to beat the shit out of each other, with zealous pride, players have been known to continue playing with concussions, multiple fractures, profuse bleeding, and that one time, a broken leg.

I still couldn't care less.

Re: Superbowl. It makes no sense. I studied it intensely and it's exactly like this:
http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...a=X&ei=q91PTfGJLM-p8AbSj9m0Dg&ved=0CDoQ9QEwAw

They just push the ball one way under great resistance and after getting it there, push it the other way. It's exercise, but in futility. Maybe you can figure it out.

Addendum. After some observation I discovered sometimes it reverses before the ball even gets there. Makes no sense at all.

After fourteen beers you might be singing a different tune. After twenty you might be one of those fools.
