wow i got a new type istp

i took the test for the 4th time and i got a new score. ISTP.

have any of you taken the test several times and gotten different results?

i have taken the test many times before and gotten INTP on the previous tests so i will stick with INTP.

Vast majority of the time I've gotten INTP. A few times I got INFP and once I got INTJ.

You should always take such results with a grain of salt. The best way for determining your type is to read the descriptions and see how well they match yourself.

Most psychologists and teachers will tell you the MBTI types are extremely basic anyway. Don't read too much into it.

I've gotten INTP, INFP, INTJ, and one time even ENTJ lol.

INT seems pretty accurate from the sources i have read. the only thing i question is P or J. the first test i took the doc just sort of threw me in the P area but my personality does have J moments from what i remember reading.

I have tested as all of the following before:
INTP
INTJ
ISTP
ISTJ

Both S types have only shown up once each I think. ISTJ was ridiculous when I looked at the descriptors. ISTP had some traits that fit. INTP and INTJ both had a lot of traits that fit. I type myself as INTx at present.

Incidentally, for those that have multi-typed, care for a functional analysis? There are tests for this, or you can read the descriptions of the functions, or both. My current thought is:
Ti=Ne=Ni > Si=Te > Se>Fi>Fe
Ti might be >, and the last 3 functions could probably be in any order.

If you're like me (<3) and find the personality descriptions to be ambiguous, you might do better by studying the differences between the four dichotomies and then observing your own behaviour.

lol 30 times, that's ridiculous. I've probably taken it 4 or 5 times, used to get INFJ.. then INTP. I'm right in the middle on T and F, but my Pness is huge.

It does depend on the site, though. When I was getting INFJ I was using a site other than mypersonality.info. I recommend using mypersonality.info if you're going to take it online and you don't want to pay.

I've found times where I got INTJ due to my sheer dislike of people behaving stupidly, which the test interpreted as me liking authority. As said above, just read the descriptions, and type yourself. Also, remember, just because you see one or two things in the description that don't match you don't disreguard it, No one's purely any type. Likewise, don't go looking for things you match up with, as you're likely to only really notice the ones that match you. Just read each subjectively, and ask yourself which one is really mostly 'you'

INTP and ISTP have the very different extroverted functions of Ne and Se.

I used the mypersonality.info a lot more than others, and I have never got a result other than INFP although I'm sure I'm an INTP. My advise? Take Internet test results with a pinch of salt. Read the descriptions of each type from various sources and read up on their different functions.

The problem is you are either a or b, which means either a + 0 = a, or 0 + b = b. There is no option for a + b = ab. We are left to interpret the % scores in the end. Which kind of works, I guess.

I always end up with a very slightly dominating J and and a rather sad little T. So I guess P and F are quite significant in my character traits. However J and T always kick in when I'm pressed for solutions, so INTJ is probably my core personality.

I lurked on the INFJ forum for a while and quickly lost my patience. I lurk on the INTJ forum too, but only when I need some "seriousness", if you could call it that. I prefer the more whimsical style, so the INTP forum suits me 80 % of the time. I am not a slave to my T or J, but find them useful for achieving my goals. I rely heavily on my Ni most of the time. Thinking does my head in. Which is probably rather obvious.......

One of my books says that lter in life, some INTP's go to ISTP. I will find it and post the actual text. Think its "Please Understand Me"

The weird thing is, I have given the sorter to everyone I know that will take it. I know a ISTP, and a ESTP. Knowing what the book says, and knowing them very well, bith bright, I dont want to be either. So the selective adaptation continues.
