hmm why though is it instead revolving around the switched on light bulb?

Option #4: Sociopathical. Bee experiences pleasure over screwing with observer's head.

Turn off the light. See what happens (which I admit could be hard considering the light will be off). Then, escort the bee out of the flat.

Are we operating in a vacuum? Should we model the bee as a particle, or a wave? Will turning the lights off cause the bee to enter into a superimposed state that will leave it both on the plant and off the plant until the light is turned on again, causing the bee wavefunction to collapse into a determined state? What is the temperature of the bee and the plants in Kelvin? Should we consider the potential for a double-plant effect, wherein the bee's choice of plant is unpredictable even with perfect information?

The quantum mechanical implications of insect pollination are indeed legion--

Duxwing, I thought so too. The specific plants aren't all that interesting hence the buzz around the light preference of the bee possible.

Wolf18 and Meer, it was my first encounter with a big dutch bee in a closed space, and I thought I can't afford any de-tracks from everyday life so I went to the bedroom and closed the door behind me, turned off that light, came out, opened the common room's window with the best position for 'escape' wide, went back to the bedroom, waited a min, then checked out, and that was it - no big bee. Luckily I was alone, no screams and no panic etc.
